Software Engineer  

Become.com is looking for an energetic, talented, results oriented individual to join our core engineering team. The ideal candidate has a desire to work in a fast paced start-up environment and has most recently been a Senior Manager at a successful software engineering company. The position reports to the Vice President. Our engineers are focused on creating the next generation tools for comparison shopping and vertical search, applying innovative concepts for crawling, ranking, indexing and classification. We are looking for creative and inquisitive people who are passionate about solving challenging problems.

This position requires background in developing/implementing and evaluating new algorithms for machine learning, text categorization, information retrieval and natural language processing. Several years of software development experience at a startup is a plus.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent (Ph.D. a plus).
• Skills/Qualifications in machine learning, information retrieval, and web data mining.
• At least 5 years of software development experience (in Java/C++), and understanding of object oriented programming and design patterns.
• Experience with distributed systems, machine learning, information retrieval and/or experience with large data (over 100Gigabyte of data) is a big plus.

Software Engineer Fluent or Native German Speaking

Become.com is seeking a candidate who is fluent in written and spoken German, native speakers preferred, to develop our emerging comparison shopping site in Germany. This effort includes working with our team in our Sunnyvale offices and assisting our UK personnel to architect, develop, and deploy our new Comparison Shopping Site.

The perfect candidate will be comfortable working in a high-energy, start-up environment and have a passion for learning about the e-commerce and search segments of the Internet industry. This position requires background in developing/implementing and evaluating new algorithms for machine learning, text categorization, information retrieval and natural language processing.

Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager is an integral part of the finance and accounting team, reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Accounting. The position requires interaction with the executive team on business and financial issues. The Accounting Manager is also involved with annual audit, treasury, investments, and special projects, which may include providing the appropriate support and due diligence necessary to support the company's acquisitions.

As the working, hands-on leader of the accounting team, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions including: revenue accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, month end close, credit, cash management, investments, corporate tax and financial reporting. Also, this person will work closely with finance to manage financial projection models and implement financial planning, budgeting and forecasting process including actual v. plan, variance analysis, and timely management reporting.

The new Accounting Manager will be part of the driving force in creating value, ensuring financial effectiveness, and helping to build the future of the enterprise. This individual must be a team player with the organization, effective manager, trusted executive and an active part of designing the future success of the company.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide ongoing General Ledger account analysis, documentation and supporting work papers, proposing and booking adjustments as needed to record assets and liabilities ensuring complete accuracy of books
• Assist to plan, organize, and coordinate financial policies in order to control receipts of revenue, expenditures of funds and the conservation of cash and assets
• Assist in the on-going design and modifications to the accounting systems to provide complete and accurate financial and statistical reporting as efficiently as possible that meet the needs of the internal and external clients. Assist with specific projects including system or integration design, implementation and documentation
• Ensure that the assets are properly and adequately recorded and tracked though the use of a fixed asset tracking program
• Prepare cash forecasting for Senior Management in order to meet the operating and capital expenditures
• Maintain well-organized, complete and accurate files and records according to the departmental procedures and policies
• Provide other accounting related support activities as required

Requirements:

• 5 years accounting experience with latest experience as an Accounting Manager or equivalent duties
• Direct experience with e-commerce, performance based marketing companies a plus
• Strong experience with ADP, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong technical background. International and consolidation experience a plus
• Strong work ethic and highest level of integrity and honesty
• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related field
• CPA a plus but not required

 Sr. Manager/Director Search Marketing

Become.com is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, highly quantitative professional to lead its Internet marketing efforts. This effort includes directing the team responsible for managing keyword portfolios and paid search processes, as well as working closely with Engineering to develop tools and processes for scalable management of keyword and content campaigns on all major networks. The position will have responsibility for managing the financial performance for all search marketing efforts. This person must be comfortable working in a high-energy, start-up environment and have a passion for learning about the e-commerce and search segments of the Internet industry. This job has a competitive salary, in addition to pre-ipo stock options and healthcare benefits. This position reports to the Vice President of Comparison Shopping.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for key paid search business performance metrics; revenue per visitor, conversion rates, overall revenue, and cost per click
• Lead the ongoing development and optimization of the keyword portfolio
• Develop, lead and implement the core SEM growth strategy for Become.com
• Optimize performance of the keyword portfolio by testing new creative, landing pages. Key goals are to maximize revenue while maintaining required ROI
• Manage and develop a team of SEM portfolio managers
• Direct Engineering efforts to expand and optimize large-scale automated keyword management (25MM+ keywords)

Qualifications & Experience:

Product Manager

We are looking for an experienced, results-oriented Product Manager to help lead the charge in developing this exciting new consumer experience. The perfect candidate is a strategic thinker who is both extremely analytical and innovative. Experience in web search, comparison shopping engines, and web UI are desirable; passion for internet search and shopping, along with the desire to help create the next revolution in web search is a must. As a Product Manager, you will drive the development and innovation in our comparison shopping search product. You will have the responsibility for identifying market requirements, defining the product vision, and launching products and subsequent improvements. • Develop, launch, and oversee and manage customer acquisition activities for Lead Generation businesses across various marketing channels with a voracious attention to metrics.
• Identify, prospect, and negotiate media buys and strategic relationships with portals, advertising networks, online agencies, email marketing providers, publishers, affiliates, and other contextually-relevant websites to maximize profitable distribution relationships.

• Develop comprehensive knowledge of various online marketing channels so as to help with the overall growth of the European businesses.
• Become a product champion for Become's German business helping define some of the internal development necessary for us to succeed in the German market
