Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Become.com is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic copywriting intern for our Japanese website (http://www.become.co.jp) If you enjoy writing content for articles and blog posts on shopping and products, we would like to hear from you.  The copywriting intern will assist the Search Engine Optimization team translate and localize shopping tips and articles for the Japanese market, author unique content, research keywords, analyze hot products and compile competitor research as required. Proficiency in the Japanese language (at a native level) and keen understanding of Japanese consumer preferences and market trends are required. Knowledge of the English language and basic grammar is required. This person must be comfortable working in a high-energy, start-up environment and have a passion for learning about the e-commerce and search segments of the Internet industry.  This position will work from our Sunnyvale, CA office.

Software Engineer  

Become.com is looking for an energetic, talented, results oriented individual to join our core engineering team. The ideal candidate has a desire to work in a fast paced start-up environment. The position reports to the Vice President. Our engineers are focused on creating the next generation tools for comparison shopping and vertical search, applying innovative concepts for crawling, ranking, indexing and classification. We are looking for creative and inquisitive people who are passionate about solving challenging problems.

This position requires background in developing/implementing and evaluating new algorithms for machine learning, text categorization, information retrieval and natural language processing. Several years of software development experience at a startup is a plus.

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent (Ph.D. a plus).
• Skills/Qualifications in machine learning, information retrieval, and web data mining.
• At least 5 years of software development experience (in Java/C++), and understanding of object oriented programming and design patterns.
• Experience with distributed systems, machine learning, information retrieval and/or experience with large data (over 100Gigabyte of data) is a big plus.

 Sr. Manager/Director Search Marketing

This effort includes directing the team responsible for managing keyword portfolios and paid search processes, as well as working closely with Engineering to develop tools and processes for scalable management of keyword and content campaigns on all major networks. The position will have responsibility for managing the financial performance for all search marketing efforts. Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for key paid search business performance metrics; revenue per visitor, conversion rates, overall revenue, and cost per click
• Lead the ongoing development and optimization of the keyword portfolio
• Develop, lead and implement the core SEM growth strategy for Become.com
• Optimize performance of the keyword portfolio by testing new creative, landing pages. Key goals are to maximize revenue while maintaining required ROI
• Manage and develop a team of SEM portfolio managers

Product Manager

Become.com is building the next generation of online comparison shopping, integrating cutting edge vertical web search capability with product comparison shopping. We are looking for an experienced, results-oriented Product Manager to help lead the charge in developing this exciting new consumer experience. The perfect candidate is a strategic thinker who is both extremely analytical and innovative. Experience in web search, comparison shopping engines, and web UI are desirable; passion for internet search and shopping, along with the desire to help create the next revolution in web search is a must. As a Product Manager, you will drive the development and innovation in our comparison shopping search product. You will have the responsibility for identifying market requirements, defining the product vision, and launching products and subsequent improvements. Product Managers work closely with senior management, as well as the Engineering, Marketing, MarCom, and Business Development teams, to effectively manage the entire product lifecycle. We are currently looking for an energetic and diligent Media Buyer for our new Lead Generation business. The ideal candidate has a desire to work in a fast paced start-up environment and has most recently been a Media Buyer at a successful consumer Internet company.

Responsibilities:

• Prospect and engage with new publishers for our Lead Generation verticals.
• Negotiate deals to maximize volume and margin of advertising campaigns while minimizing risk.
• Optimize campaigns through working with publishers on placements, creative inventory and targeting.
• Recommend action plan on new publisher relationships through campaign data analysis to improve performance and develop new strategies while managing financial loss.
• Establish relationships and serve as point person with major networks, portals, publishers and other marketing partners.
• Work with internal groups to launch and manage campaigns including creative designers, engineers, finance, sales and marketing departments.

Experience/Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree required
