Acer and HP are the two of the leading manufacturers for notebooks. They provide you with reliable notebooks with good configurations. Their notebooks are very well priced for the average consumer as well. Let us see how well they compare.

There are basically two important things you need to compare. One is the pricing and the other is the configurations with which they come with.First off let is compare the pricing between the two companies. Pricing both these companies have a top end product, a mid range laptop and an entry level laptop. The entry level laptops from Acer are priced slightly lower compared to the expensive HP ones. But then again HP does sell entry level laptops under the brand name of Compaq which are quite cheap as well. The main stream is where HP’s laptops are priced very well. In fact in the mid range market HP’s notebooks are the best ones around. Acer is not far behind but their pricing in the mid range notebooks can be a lot better. The top end laptops of Acer are priced quite high compared to the HP ones as well. They may not offer the best value for money here but they do offer quite a lot for what you pay for.

Coming to the configurations the in the entry level notebooks the Acer laptops are slightly better off than the HP ones. Thanks to their low pricing they are the best option here. In the mid range laptops there is no beating HP. They have some of the best mid range laptops and offer really good configurations. The DV series of laptops come stocked with Intel Core i5 and i7 processors along with about 6 to 8 GB of RAM. The perfect example would be the HP pavilion dv7-6b91nr notebook. Acer’s mid range mostly features i3 and Core 2 Duo processors. Most of the DV series also offer video cards as well. This makes HP the winner of the mid range series of laptops.

The top end notebooks from both the Acer and HP are equally matched. Both HP and Acer feature 17″ notebook computers with full HD capabilities. For HP it is the Envy series while for Acer it is the Aspire Ethos series. Both of them come with 2^nd generation quad core Intel Core i7 processors which offer you the best performance. The design for both these laptops is quite impressive with the Aspire Ethos edging it.  The HP Envy 17 3D series comes with the Nvidia 3D vision kit which gives you the ability to view content in 3D. This feature is not present in the Aspire Ethos series and you would have to install and buy the kit separately. Barring that both the Envy series as well as the Aspire Ethos series are top notch.
