It does free up your hands, but unlike I've heard people claim, I have not found that this product allows me to tie my shoes. It can also be hard to find something 'safe' to do with your hands once you have them. You don't want to sterilize bottle parts in steam with a baby attached to your front. Since you can't lean over with a baby in a front pack, emptying or loading the dishwasher becomes a series of squats exercises. You could try cutting something up for dinner, but you'll be standing at an awkward distance from the counter and won't be able to see what you are cutting. It can be nice for browsing the mall or a bookstore, but it can also be difficult to sit down to look at a book with both of you being comfortable (since the baby's legs will be dangling in front of your thighs). You can't really use your hands to eat a meal, either, or anything hot, without possibly dropping crumbs, dripping soup, or scalding the baby with some other hot consumable. Mostly I found it nice for taking laps around the house when the baby is crying like his diaper is full of broken glass and my arms are spent and I'm looking to change the way his weight is on my back. That alone is worth a lot. Outdoor autumn walks are nice with a maternity jacket zipped up around them.

This product was brand new. The material is amazing. My new baby will love it. It is so durable that I don't have to worry about it snapping or anything of that sort. What suprised me most was the speed in which it was delivered. I am very happy with my product and recommend it to all new moms and dads!

The way baby is positioned in this carrier causes spinal compression. I have read that it is not good for baby to be facing out (difficult or impossible for them to block out all of the stimulation, unable to see parent's face to help them interpret situations). I found this carrier to be incredibly uncomfortable- hurt my back and shoulders after 10 minutes of use. We ended up getting an Ergo and are much happier with it. Would recommend using a sling with an infant.
