Bamboo Plants

It’s summer and time to redecorate your living room! Many will be on vacation and thus have more time to visit you – and you’ll hopefully have time off to accommodate them. Make sure your living room looks stylish with these suggestions to spruce the place up!

1. Plants: Who doesn’t love a little greenery in their home? Plants can add a touch of nature to a room – a touch that is considered stylish nowadays! Bamboo plants are a great choice because they are low maintenance. All you need to do is make sure it gets adequate water and light (but don’t put it directly in the sunlight!). Bamboo grows tall and strong when properly cared for.

2. Paperweights:  A paperweight is a small, often heavy decorative object that can be placed on papers to hold them down. They can be made of glass, metal, rock or really any heavy material you like. Paperweights come in many shapes and sizes, and they are the perfect finishing touch to a desk or coffee table.

3. Picture frame: Nothing makes a living room look homey like memories. Frames come in many different materials, such as plastic, glass and metal, so one is sure to fit the look of your room. They can also serve as a great conversation topic, or as a way to simply remember fun times.

4. Wall mirror: Mirrors create the illusion of space, so they are a great addition to a small room or narrow hallway. They can also reflect your gorgeous new furniture or a trendy lamp.

5. Lantern: Every room needs lighting, but why not make it unique? Consider indoor lanterns to bring an elegant touch to a room when off. When on, they can create a romantic mood. Or you can purchase round Chinese lanterns for an ethnic look. If you want a regal light piece, I suggest buying a  chandelier to place on a high ceiling.

6. Art: No one like bare walls! There are many places on-line where you can purchase framed art to spruce up your walls. Nature scenes with the ocean are quite popular in summer months.

7. Chaise: If you are looking to expand your seating, consider purchasing a chaise. A chaise puts a new spin on the recliner chair by making it long, thin and stylish. It’s perfect for reading a book, resting or lounging and adds a luxurious look to any room. They are available in leather and all fabrics to match the decor of your room.

8. Floor vase: Sure you’ve heard of regular vases that you can set on a table, but if you have an empty corner, you should consider purchasing a floor vase. It’s a great place to store tall plants or long flowers, or it can just be a decorative piece in the room that makes its own statement.

9. Accent tables: Every living room needs a coffee table, buy why not get an accent table? Accent tables, as their name suggests, add a particular accent to a room with their unique shape or color. Some are twisted, some have multiple legs (or just one!)  or some are merely stools. There are many styles and finished available to fit any room.

10. Rug: Rugs are no longer used just to cover up the floor. They add style to a room and compliment other pieces. You can choose from many sizes, patterns and colors to finish your room.
