I'm not going to write a book like most people do on these reviews mostly because my spelling is horrible. I own one of these and i love it. I get my email's and text's and phone calls all the time. I work at Verizon wireless as a tech and i see people have issues with their phones all day. Out of all the pda's i see on a daily basis blackberry's are the least with the exception of the pearl. Treo's freeze and crash all the time the blackberry is simple and solid. I purchased my 8820 as a rebuilt one because it was cheaper. But it acts and preforms like it's brand new. Every now and then i have to pop the battery out but that's nothing compared to what i see people to through with their phones at my job. My battery dies quick sometimes to but thats life..over all a great phone

If my employer did not provide the phone gratis, I wouldn't keep it. The user interface is awkward and clunky. The phone software crashes and locks up often. The desktop software is lacking in basic features. I think my major issue with this product is the calendar and address book. Microsoft Vista Home Version eliminates Outlook. And the RIM Desktop software doesn't have it's own. So the user has to enter the information in Outlook and then synch the Blackberry with the desktop computer. The calendar and address book are essentially useless unless you buy MS Outlook separately ($80) or you have the old XP. Don't buy this phone if you use a machine running MS Vista. Also don't buy this phone if you want to use it as an MP3 player with anything other than the miserable RIM ear buds. The audio jack is a proprietary RIM size and not a standard ear phone jack. And RIM earbuds are cheap and sound tinny. There is no way to hook up quality headphones to the Blackberry.

After using an iPhone for the past year, to try something new, I got the "top of the line" blackberry 8820. Why would anyone buy this product unless their company made them?? The user interface is so bad I am amazed. The web browsing is just as bad as on a regular cell phone. The navigation is clunky. The email is great IF you ONLY read TEXT emails, anything with HTML (formatting and pictures) turns out in garbled code. Reading PDF attachments is darn near impossible. I did the like AOL/Yahoo instant messenger capability, but hardly worth it. Loading pictures/music via the Roxio desktop software is a throwback to 1998 with its horrible user interface. I really don't see the use in this device. I returned mine to Amazon after a week.
