I purchased this labeler for the purpose of making 'permanent' labels to identify my flower varieties in my perennial flower garden. I have used the labels on many metal plant stakes in my flower garden and have not been disapointed with them. The labels stick well to the metal and the sun has not faded the letters. I haven't had any type of malfuntion problems with either the machine or the tape. I do remember the instruction book was a bit challenging, but it has been easy to use once I figured it out. My only 'complaint' is that it does use an 'excessive' amount of tape. There is an inch of blank tape at the beginning and at the end of each label. Overall, I would buy this labeler again.

The only complaint is that it is Very Difficult to change the styles of print. Good selection of print styles available, once you can get to them.

The documentation for the pt 1830 laminator is TERRIBLE and the TZ tape is WORSE - it (a) wrinkles (b) doesn't stick and (c) the lamination falls off almost instantly. One would expect 'laminated tape' to stay that way but this stuff doesn't. Worst of all is Brothers lack of customer support -- their website doesn't allow one to send an email or a fax to try to rectify the situation. (There's a place to try, but it won't actually allow you to send anything). Don't make the mistake I did: AVOID BUYING THIS (or any other Brother TZ product).

The label maker is great and the software works well, you can use any font and it isn't bad to use. The software is somewhat like MS Publisher but not quite as polished. My only complaint is that I didn't plan on leaving it plugged in all the time but I found problems with this. If you install the drivers on one USB port and move to a different port on the hub or PC the drivers don't install correctly, the drivers keep tring to go to the original USB port, weird. If you leave it plugged in all the time or remember which port you used you should have no problem.
