Promotional Text

Your products will stand out from the crowd with Become.com's PromoText. PromoText allows you to include a customized promotional message in your feed that shows up prominently next to your products on our site. It's an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your listings and highlight special offers-like free shipping or discount codes-that can increase your click rates and sales conversions.

Merchants can now choose to include Promotional Text in their product listings, as shown in Become.com's data feed specifications. The information below explains how to implement PromoText for your listings.

How do I use it?

• 1. Include the desired promotional text in your data feed, under the correct header (see data feed specifications). You may include PromoText for any/all products. If your feed did not already have the Promotional Text header, please email your account manager and he or she will map the new header to the system.
• 2. Activate the opt-in mechanism within the Merchant Dashboard. A merchant can sign into the dashboard, navigate to the Bid By Category page, and elect to activate promotional text for the entire feed or select categories.

What are the requirements?

Text may be up to 30 characters long; longer text will be truncated to 30 characters. It cannot contain excessive punctuation, capitalization, or obscenities, and all statements must be verifiably true.

Where will the text appear?

Promotional Text is visible to users along with store and price information, in results pages as well as merchant tables. Promotional Text is clickable, and links out to the product URL for the specific product.

Will promo data appear in the reporting?

Yes, it will be available in reporting on a category basis as well as SKU-based reporting on an individual basis. You will also be able to see click outs from Promotional Text specifically.

How much is it?

Adding Promotional Text to your listings will result in an incremental increase to the CPC charged for a click. Merchants only pay for PromoText when visitors use it to click through to the merchant site; there is no setup fee or per-display charge. Please refer to the updated Rate Card for specific category cost data.

Does having PromoText impact my rankings?

No. Merchants on Become.com may bid up the CPC on their listings to gain higher placement in the results. PromoText allows merchants to increase the prominence and CTR on their listings in their current positions.

When will my listings reflect PromoText?

If new data does not need to be created in the feed in order to implement Promotional Text, the site will reflect the promotional message in just a few minutes, following activation.
