There are other reviews here that go into great detail about the receiver, so I won't... I'll just echo that what you read from previous reviews is all correct. This is the best receiver you could buy for under $2,000 right now, and maybe the best under $3,000. This is an upgrade for me from the classic DSP-A2070. I didn't expect that the audio would be that much richer and more "live" from the RX-V3800 than my old amp, but it truly is. Incredible details reveal themselves on my MB Quart speakers. I continue to be amazed at how good this thing sounds. I have only one minor complaint: it does act as a Media Center, pulling recordings off of my Vista machine and playing them. Unfortunately, although it plays WMA files, I rip to WMA Lossless, and the RX-V3800 does not currently have the WMA Lossless codec onboard. If you're looking to stream .MP3 or .WMA (not Lossless) you'll be very happy. And the catalog of Internet Radio stations is very thorough and very cool to surf through. Obviously, you won't be getting great audio quality through a Web stream, but the convenience of being able to get your favorite streams right on the receiver is awesome.

This amplifier is incredible. I tried all manner of HDMI cables just to see what happens and this receiver managed them all. Then I tried a host of unmatched speakers to see if the automatic setup could sort it all out. The YPAO system optimization works extremely well and quickly. I was concerned that it would leave the room too "bright" but it definitely got the accoustics right. The range of options is intimidating, and it will definitely take some time to fully realize the potential of this excellent receiver. For the technically capable this is the receiver for you!

It was extremely easy to set up. The included microphone used to calibrate speakers did a great job. My wife was continually surprised at the details she was hearing. Previous receiver was an Onkyo 5.1, this is far superior. I am only using it in 5.1 mode instead of the 7.1 because I only have 5 speakers, and am using the other outputs for a second zone outside. I control my home theater with the Logitech Harmony 1000 RF remote, and I have the Yamaha in a cabinet, out of sight. It hasn't given me the slightest problem in a month of heavy use. Highly recommended.

I considered several receivers (Yamaha 663, Onkyo 606, Denon 1909) before choosing the mid-priced (of the 3) Yamaha. The Onkyo ran too hot and the sound seemed to have less depth and the Denon was a bit expensive although the feature that lowers volume of commercials seems great. After 2 weeks, I've been very impressed with the Yamaha's sound through my old Magnat speakers (stereo) and Polk surround speakers (5.1). Set up was easy with the automatic speaker calibration (YPAO); I played around with subwoofer placement and each time the calibration worked perfectly. The HDMI works great, converting and sending video/audio with a single cable from my component DVD, HDMI DirecTV HD, composite VCR, etc to my HDTV. The remote is weak so I would definitely upgrade to a Harmony-type remote. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Over the past few weeks I have been searching for a new a/v receiver to replace my Harman Kardon. I have added a bluray player and a new plasma. The H/K was running out of open connections. I began with the Onkyo 606 which I got at Circuit City for $379. It had a great power section, but ran very hot. The biggest issue was every time an explosion or a flash would go off on the screen, I would lose video signal to my projector. Returned it and purchased the Yamaha 663. Very clean and clear through my Jamo surround setup. I won't elaborate on details because much has already been said about the quality of the Yamaha. A week after I got the Yamaha, CC ran the Denon 988 for $650 on closeout (same as the Denon 2808). I had high expectations since it retails for $1200. Bottom line is it sounded about the same as the Yamaha. I got the Yamaha for $430 at Best Buy and can't justify the extra $$ for the Denon name. Also was not as user friendly as the Yamaha. With my particular setup, the Yamaha gave Denon performance at a much lower price. Hope this helps anyone decide as these 3 receivers are very close in features.

Just got this after reading all the reviews here plus checking around on-line. Hooked it up with a new set of KEF 3005s and it's currently blowing my socks off. I'm sure I'll learn a lot more about it as I get deeper into it, but first impression is, wow!

In summary, I really enjoy the product. My only minor issue is the lack of an RF connector that's not specifically for FM radio. And the up-conversion for some older devices is VERY unreliable, forcing me to purchase a composite video cable. Other than that, the RX-V563BL is definitely worth the price tag and is recommended if up-converting composite video devices isn't a necessity as it was for me.

I spent the last 3 months trying to find the right av receiver for me. After much praise, i bought and returned the onkyo txsr605 (setup and video was great, sound was poor, including a buzz i've never had before) and the Harmon Kardon AVR 340 (sound was great, but vidoe quality in non-hd was aweful). I waited a few weeks for the new yamaha a/v receivers to come out in April. It was definifely worth the wait. GUI is not great, but the sound is amazing and no major complaints with the video. My only issues has to do with how quickly it can switch between HD and non-HD souces with my cable box (handshake), although i hear this is a common problem with certain cable boxes.

unfortunately, the only reason to buy this product is its design. The sound quality is poor at best and spends to much time on the low volumes, for instance, up until 20 or so it is super queit and it maxes out at say 30, at which everything is already starting to peak and sound horrible. This product is good in theory, based on it's design appeal, but not smart in reality. I would recommend the Samsung Micro Unit I bought instead, it's cheaper and a heck of alot better.

First, let me say that this product offers exactly what I was looking for in terms of functionality. It plays CDs and my (3rd gen) iPod, has a wake-up alarm function, and has pretty good sound. It's also very attractive. Unfortunately, when I first received the product, only half of the CD trays worked, so, I sent it in to have it worked on under warranty. After paying another $25 to ship it back to the company, I received it perhaps nearly a month later (much longer than was necessary considering that they simply shipped me a new unit). Communication with the company was unreliable and their emails were terse and ambiguous, which is something I really will not accept. So, despite being a good product (when it works), the fact that it was initially broken and the poor service will likely prevent me from buying from jWin any time soon.

Overall a good product. My wife and I needed something that was versatile for both CD's and our digital music. This machine has worked out almost perfectly. My only issue is that it needs an EQ or a sub-woofer.

Bought this card scanner for my husband. He loves it. It is very easy to use and the card information is stored correctly.

    2. Star FullStar EmptyStar EmptyStar EmptyStar Empty Posted: Jun 2 2008

The product worked for three days and then stopped working. CardScan is one of these companies that asked not to return the product to the store but to contact their customer service if the product has a problem. I was on hold with customer service for 35 minutes before giving up. I wrote their tech support an email regarding the issue. Two days later I received a response asking me what scanner I had purchased and what color the light was showing (even though all this information was provided in the initial email). After sending this information again they determined that the unit I had purchased was defective and they would send me a new unit. The unit they sent me turned out to be refurbished. I was incredibly disappointed that it took so long for their tech support to respond and that they did not keep to their commitment an exchange the defective unit for a new unit. Considering I had spent close to $300 on a NEW unit and not refurbished one and the unit I purchased only worked for three days this was the least they should have done. This company does not stand by their product.

I purchased this in order to scan our CEO's business cards into a digital format. It worked great and I was able to export all the cards into Outlook. I had no problems with setup or using it. It recognizes most of the characters on the cards. Only minor complaint, is their software constantly tells me to update my online preferences anytime I open the software.

Please believe the bad reviews. My wife and I bought this for a cross country road trip. We were wary because of the bad reviews, but figured that as long as it held up for the duration of the trip, we got our money's worth out of it. It did not. It starting switching sides within the first 5 or 6 hours, and now is totally defunct. Additionally, it screwed up the display in my car. Even after taking this worthless contraption out, my display bounces back and forth from TAPE to PLEASE INSERT TAPE in a glitchy way. I'm really mad at myself for not listening to all of the negative reviews. Do not buy this product. Did this company do no testing before they released it?

Until now I've used a two-to-one RCA splitter to connect my iPod to my Pioneer reciever, but I've never been too happy with that arrangement. I purchased this item after seeing a similar Yamaha model at a friend's house. The specifications list the 20, 30, and 60G iPods--I have an 80G. I used the adapter that came with the iPod and slipped it right into the docking port where it fit perfectly. Hooked it up in minutes and now I have thousands of songs available to my stereo. The video looks good and there's an option to use the on-screen display to give you the same menu options on your TV that you would normally have on your iPod. There are lots of docks out there. I chose this because I have a Pioneer sound system and over the years I've come to know them for quality hardware.
