A couple of months ago I bought a new laptop with Vista and purchased Office 2007 Professional from Amazon. It is cumbersome to use, the save command fails in Power Point and it is not compatible with any translation software (Wordfast, Trados, Metatexis, etc.). I wish I had kept my receipt, I would send the product back and demand a refund.

While the new 2007 Office Suite takes a lot to get used too (new ribbon interface)the lower price of this suite makes for a great buy!!

I usually don't write reviews on amazon, but I think it's time to set the record straight about microsoft office pro. I started using this software last year when it was required for a computer class of mine's. The price came as a shock, but luckily, I was given the trial version with my textbook. The whole time I was using it, I noticed some major differences, but it made Microsoft Pro better in my opinion. A lot of people are complaining about the changes but in order to make the 2003 different from the 2007, of course there are going to be changes! Microsoft even offers tutorials on Pro through books and software, so it makes it even easier to use. The best thing about this for college students now is that the Microsoft offers an 85% discount for students on JourneyEd.com. With the low price for college students, there should be no complaints. If you're having difficulty with Pro, then I strongly recommend purchasing the tutorial on how to use it. Another good thing for college students is that the TUTORIALS come with the software free. All things consider, I don't see the problem.

I received the Office Home and Student 2007 Excel program timely and in good shape. I feel I got the best deal out there. Amazon provided all the sources and the best prices and I went for the least expensive and have no regrets.

Wish they had left the buttons the same for user ease, some things I still have not found.... is frustrating... Ok with improving things but leave the every day tasks the same....

Posted: Aug 1 2008
I had downloaded the trial version prior to buying the software and knew this is what I wanted. Microsoft wanted $40 bucks more than I could buy it for on Amazon. Same software same version, the only thing different was the cost!!!! Amazon was less expensive. I couldn't be happier.

Had no problems with loading. I looked at some of the tutorial but don't normally, however this is quite different from previous version. I'm learning by error but all in all apears to be a good product. If consumer was smarter than me they would take the time to review how the program works and I'm sure they would be able to do numerous things I'm sure I know nothing about Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 Medialess License Kit for System Builders - 1 pack [LICENSE ONLY]

Vista has a twin, and its name is Office 2007. And I'm embarrassed to admit I failed to do the research I should have done, and typically thoroughly do before buying anything. Yes, it got me. I was lulled by thoughts of, "I know Windows and Office applications like the back of my hand--how different could it possibly be?" And why shouldn't I think that given the compatibility and cohesion of past Office versions? Like many I'm sure, even with new or updated MS products I've pretty much always been able to, at the very *least*, intuit and immediately execute core commands--read: effective and efficient productivity right out of the box. Well, that party has come to a brutal ended with the Office '07 suites. With its completely new interface (within which the same user-friendly Office functions we've all come to know and love are purportedly buried), MS has released a product I've found to be astoundingly unintuitive and difficult to learn (i.e., nowhere near worth the time it would take to figure out), not to mention incredibly slow to run. Then, once I started to get the hang of the method to their madness a little bit, my feeble hopes were quickly dashed when I discovered there to be MINIMAL ability to customize menus, toolbars, buttons, functions, etc such that I could better take advantage of said "improvements". Can't wait to see the new TV commercial Mac will inevitably come up with to mock this mock-worthy software. Don't get me wrong folks, overall I'm a big PC/MS/Win/Office fan. But, wow, for these and other troublesome reasons already described elsewhere, this one has left me utterly stunned.

This software is required for school work and future employment. Since I'm already familiar with earier versions, this one is easy to use. I like the consistency of the command ribbon, tabs, and options between the parts of the suite.

PRODUCT RETURNED! Amazon shipped this product in a secure plastic container, like the one used in retail stores. You risk damaging the software and injury to yourself when opening. A sign of things to come? This product is NOT compatible our new HP Laptop w/Vista,specifically, Outlook. After an hour of entering 10 business email addresses and downloading into Outlook, the software worked okay until next laptop reboot. Outlook data could not be accessed. Problem has to do with PST files. Google it. See the number of complaints and fixes that don't work. Waste hours searching to trying to resolve the issues. In addition, installing this software created numerous other Vista issues that we finally had to do a system recovery.

I tried the Beta version of Office 2007 and was unable to erase it and get my original Office 2003 to work. After much frustration with tech support, etc. I purchased the new super duper Office 2007. I find it more cumbersome, less user friendly, and inferior to Office 2003 in almost every aspect. Even after one year of use, I am continually having to look up information in the "help" section to try to do simple tasks. I am a writer and also own a translating company. I enjoyed the simplicity of 2003 and only have this program, because the Beta version of 2007 would not allow me to go back to 2003. CSP

I purchased this product as an upgrade from office XP. A great difference! There is a bit of a learning curve on the new interface after using the old one for so many years. I think that contact manager will be a great assest to us once we get a bit more training. there are good tutorials but I am going to take a class to get a good overview the the new pieces in that side of outlook. caution.. Don't install the search option. I have a fairly fast computer and it bogs down the system to check the whole computer for it's data base. there is already search in all of the office programs as well as the desktop. there is no need to add another item running in the background and hogging valuable space. Overall a good investment and good for our business.

Not only did this product come cheaper than what most stores are sell it for, it arrived in record time. It works great and has a lot of new tools to work with. It's a fun tool if you just got an Apple computer and want to work on 2003 Microsoft things.

Even though I am learning the new features for office 2007 for PC. I am glad that office 2008 for Mac is just like office 2003 for PC.

Excel in Office 2008 for Mac does not include visual basic or the ability to create macros. For me, this renders Excel 2008 completely useless. Also gone is the Analysis Pack (including Solver). Stick with Office 2004 if you need to do serious Excel work.

I have evaluated this product as an alternative to using the free Microsoft FolderShare service for syncronizing files & folders between my computers. I have found that there are some very restrictive limitations when configuring a file sharing workspace. More specifically, a file sharing workspace is limited to 2GB or 5,000 files, whichever comes first. Once the limit is reached, the files in the workspace will no longer be synchronized. In these days of 4GB+ flash drives, having a 2GB file sharing limit is terribly restrictive. I have stopped using MS Groove as a result and am currently looking for a better alternative to FolderShare.

Groove is a really useful product. My major in college allows us access to Groove through an agreement with Microsoft. It is used extensively by the students. The nature of our work is very group oriented. My group uses our workspace often, many times instead of meeting in person! It has allowed us flexibility to share ideas and files. We are a lot more productive because we can always share information. Creating workspaces is very simple. In fact, I have created personal workspaces with other members of the class just to share information and helps. The file-sharing workspace is amazing. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs to collaborate with others on a tight schedule.

I live in Seattle and am working on starting a new Web-based business with a colleague in Singapore. We use Groove to share all our files as well as keep track of bugs in our prototype. While the product has a pretty rough user interface- as far as I can remember, not particularly improved over the previous, free version of Groove- it still beats using a shared folder or (shudder) e-mail as a way of keeping our work in synch. It easily saves me enough time and aggravation to be worth the price.

I upgraded from Office 2000 at work and Office 2003 on my laptop and after some orietation time, find the product much improved over the older versions. The hardest thing is finding all the old familiar commands, but once I find them I realise there are many more useful functions that I never used in the older versions. All in all, I am very happy with the product, even if it was only for the newer look and feel.

Before purchasing Office 2007, I pretty much thought that Word and Excel were had reached their limits -- they did what they needed to do and that there was no real room for improvement. I was wrong. I was so wrong. The ribbon system is beautiful. The UI introduced me to features I never knew about and grouped the features intuitively. The default print view is the perfect size for working on a document. The contrast feels sharper. Calibri is the best font in the world for pretty much anything. The tools for charts are much stronger. The ability to automatically format large documents by type (reports, etc) is amazing. The included templates are perfect and show off functionality I did not knew existed. Excel has been made much more user friendly. OneNote is the best notetaking software in the world. Publisher remains a disappointment. If Office was a family, Publisher would be the youngest brother that is not popular, attractive, good at sports, or musically inclined. Some day they will make access look less like a refuge from early nineties computing. That day has not yet come. Still, it does what it needs to do. Powerpoint turned out nicely. Solid improvements there. InfoPath could use better sharepoint integration. Groove is great if you can train people to use it.

Very well organized and the explanations are fairly easy to understand. Not having the best eyesight I wish the photos were larger with better contrast. I have to go to the program and actually see the screen.

We purchased this upgrade because Microsoft no longer supports the version of Outlook we had on our computer and we needed to link with other software so we had to upgrade. We decided to upgrade the whole suite--big mistake. The helpful folks at Microsoft have come out with another unintuitive product that makes more things "automatic", which is very unhelpful. It has removed or hidden some features I used in the former version on a daily basis (for example, the ability to add columns in a simple table in Word--now I have to import an Excel spreadsheet instead--although I can add all sorts of more complex formulas to a Word table--that's just strange). Yet again my Big Brothers at Microsoft have decided that THEY know what I need better than I do so they will make my choices for me. By doing so, they have also made the program much slower and, surprise, sloppier. It's pretty, though--lots of new icons instead of WORDS (imagine that in a WORD PROCESSING PROGRAM!). Guess it would be great if I were ILLITERATE!

Overall, happy with the upgrade but not without frustrations. The ribbon takes getting used to and can be frustrating but other improvements in Excel are an improvement.

I am supposed to use this product to update the web pages monthly for a non-profit organization. After exploring the menus and the manual, I still don't know how and where to start. I usually can figure out in a short time how to use new software however complicated, such as QuarkExpress, InDesign, PageMaker, FrameMaker, Illustrator, Dream Weaver, Front Page, etc., by exploring the menus and the samples with the help of its manual.

The online documentation provided is pitiful. Surely a company with the resources Microsoft has can do better than this?? The product works great, has some nice features, like the workflows, but the provided documentation is a joke, more geared towards selling you microsoft-isms (and that "you don't have to write a line of code!") than telling you how to use their product. And the online help is similarly sparse.

The program is great once you learn to use it. It comes with no guides. The online instructions are a little hard to find and lacking in detail. All of the third party books ("For Dummies") don't come out for months. Does anyone else remember when programs used to come with a "How To" Guide????
