Basketball is a fast paced sport that requires a lot of skill and proper technique. It relies on speed, endurance, agility and tactical coordination. All these factors are required to play the sport. The game has simple rules. There are five players on either team and both teams must try to score points by shooting the basketball through the opponent team’s basket. The game can be played indoors or outdoors. Indoor courts generally have wooden floorboards with an in-ground basketball hoop. Outdoor courts usually have concrete ground with an outdoor basketball hoop.
Players can either dribble the ball or pass to team members on the court. The objective is to bypass the opponent’s defense and score points by scoring in the basket. The two point shots are taken from a range of 5 to 10 feet from the basket and the three point shots are scored from a distance of twenty feet from the basket. The basketball hoop has a board behind the basket that can be used to angle shots into the basket.
The game is fast paced and it requires a lot of stamina to master. Since the ball is can be passed hand to hand, taller players have an advantage because they can jump and reach higher. The average height of players in the NBA league is six and a half feet! But then shorter players too have advantages of agility and speed. The sport is fun to play and you can play the sport indoors or outdoors if you have the right equipment!
