Videogames + Chicken - Chicken = Gamecock

The video game industry is full of heavy hitters with lots of money behind them - publishers like EA, Microsoft, and Vivindi are what drive the industry. However as any gamer knows, the larger the publishing company, the more likely the developer is going to be pressed to cut corners to hit a deadline. If enough corners are cut what could have been the best MMO to hit the market ever becomes Shadowbane. Of course, where would we be without publishers? Games do not get made without money, and sometimes developers need deadlines (*cough Starcraft Ghost* cough*).
Enter Mike Wilson and Harry Miller (Max Payne anyone?) These two developers swore they were leaving the industry for good, only to come back and form one of the most exciting things to come out of publishing ever: Gamecock. Gamecock is exactly what the industry needs. They are a publishing group that is not afraid to take the independent, the-out-of-the-ordinary, and most importantly the risk. Of course none of this means anything without looking at the games (after the jump):
Hero (Firefly Studios): An Arcade style dungeon crawler (wow, I haven’t said that in a long time) featuring the long-lost drop-in co-op. Anyone who loved games like Gauntlet Legends in the arcade will find their home in Hero.
Insecticide (Crackpot Entertainment): A detective story set in a future where insects rule the world (and wear ties). Think Who Framed Roger Rabbit meets A Bugs Life. Insecticide is a story driven 3rd person shooter and adventure game, and will be spread out into two downloadable episodes. This looks like another very solid title.
Mushroom Men (Red Fly studios): Do you get excited when you hear the words “Abe’s Oddysee” and “Earthworm Jim” when talking about a new game? I do, and that is exactly what they are saying about Mushroom Men. If you’re not excited yet, may I mention that the developers also worked on Gears of War, Star Wars Galaxies, Thief: Deadly Shadows, and Deus Ex: Invisible War?
