So, here at Become.com we take our foosball matches very seriously. We recently hired a couple summer interns to help us out, and from the beginning they've been strutting around the office with their cocky attitudes and new school flavor. I was challenged today to a 1v1 match against the self proclaimed "foosball master" , who answers to the name of Joe the Intern. In what was supposed to be an epic battle with conflicting strategies and strengths, the newcomer was run off the table by the crafty veteran, yours truly. A couple wins by the score of 5-4 & 5-3, secured the victory and cemented Joe the Intern's place in the foosball food chain. He just didn't know what he was up against.

Have some Joe!

The Best, Worst Movie Ever

It is very easy to understand why this could possibly be one of the greatest, worst movies ever; the staring role is played by Gary Busey. Now this isn't the somewhat normal Chet Steadman, Gary Busey. This is the 2005, I'm clinically insane Gary Busey, playing a killer gingerbread cookie. This fact alone should be enough of an incentive to rent the movie, but I'll give you a little sneak peak about the awesomeness that is, The Gingerdead Man.

The start of the movie begins with deranged patron Millard Findlemeyer (Gary Busey) going psycho and opening fire on the Leigh family and killing 3 family members, all except the daughter Sarah and her mother Betty. Millard is eventually captured and sentenced to the electric chair based on Sarah's testimony. His ashes are sent to her mother, and to vow her son's revenge, Millard's mother mixes her son's ashes into a secret gingerbread cookie mix and send it to Betty and Sarah Leigh's Bakery.

The rest of the movie depicts Gary Busey coming to life as a gingerbread man wreaking havoc around the bakery and killing the remaining members of the Leigh family. Now remember, this is the best, WORST movie ever, so watch this movie with that mindset and you'll be thoroughly entertained.

Seriously though. It’s been about 3 months since I finally kicked that nasty WoW habit and Blizzard has to come along with all their fancy Activision money and once again bent me to their will. Yes, for those of you that live under a rock Blizzard Entertainment announced this weekend that they will indeed be making Diablo 3. This, along with Starcraft 2, will mark the end of civilization as we know it. All hail Blizzard and despair.

And my i be the first to say...PKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPKPK

5 Ways to Relive Your Childhood

There is one thing that all of us in the 20-30 years old range have in common: we have never really grown up. Whether it’s classic cartoons, video games, or our pristinely painted collection of Warhammer figurines, there is something in our lives that our elders scoff at as childish. Clearly they just don’t understand. However, we can’t live our childhoods forever, and there comes a time when we need to head out into the scary real world and act all adult like. Well now, thanks to the magic of the internet, we can buy back our childhoods at great prices.

Here are 5 awesome ways to relive the glory days:

5) Video Games
Video Games are awesome, and we all know it. There is one particular system that now lets us relive our epic childhood adventures, and that’s the Nintendo Wii. The Wii has gotten some criticism that it really doesn’t have the greatest selection of games, and while this may be true, it does have some of the best classic games out there. If you’re looking to capture some memories, why not go back and battle Bowser’s minion’s again in the original Super Mario Brothers? Or best the evil Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog?

4) Old Cartoon Shows
We all have fond memories of sitting in front of the TV on Saturday morning watching our favorite cartoon shows. Who didn’t love the original X-men series, Captain Planet, Ren and Stimpy, Doug, or Rocko’s Modern Life? Consider picking up the DVD sets of these shows and kicking back over some Cinnamon Toast Crunch for a marathon of classic goodness. You can even find some of the more amusingly bad cartoons like The Legend of Zelda Animated Series, or the Mario Brothers Super Show.

3) Pogs, Magic Cards, Dungeons and Dragons, or Other Collectables
No matter how cool we currently think we are, we all had a hobby that could be defined as incredibly geeky. Remember how cool you thought you were with that giant metal slammer and the collection of 10,000 Pogs (including that full set of rare holographic Ninja Turtle Pogs). How about your unbeatable deck of Magic the Gathering cards, or your level 9 thief and collection of dungeon master books? It may be time to dust those off and gather the old friends together for some good old fashion fun.

2) Nerf Weaponry
If your adult life has lead you to the tiny cage they call a cubicle, then you may want to consider arming your private corporate castle with some of top of the line weaponry. While flamethrowers and spear guns would certainly keep Frank from accounting at bay it probably wouldn’t be the best for your future employment. This is another area where memories of childhood fun can help out again. The science of Nerf weaponry has improved over the years, and while the classic crossbow still exists in some form you may want to consider upgrading to something with a bit more…kick.

1)Classic TV show t-shirts
Remember how much you wanted to be on Legends of the Hidden Temple? Your longing to spend the summer at Camp Onawana? Or the long hours of training to be on Guts? Well unfortunately you’re not cool enough to be on any of those shows, but that shouldn’t stop you from pretending you were. Past Blastin’ Shirts lets you do with money what were never able to do with talent, kind of like college

Time To Get a Bluetooth Car Kit

For those of you that live in either California or Washington, you have about 1 week left before the restriction on cell phone use in your car takes effect. Starting July 1st, it will be illegal to use hand held devices (cell phones) while driving in these states, along with other states and territories that have already implemented this ban. Take a look at these sites for details regarding the new law on cell phone restrictions (also CA DMV). Seeing how fines can total up to $500 dollars, it's fairly safe to say that purchasing a bluetooth kit is a sound investment.

If you're looking for a quality kit in a fairly inexpensive price range, I recommend the Motorola T305. The Motorola T305 comes equipped with noise reduction technology and version 2.0 bluetooth wireless technology, which reduces the number of dropped calls and cell phone interference. The best part about this set is that you can clip it to your sun visor so you can avoid wearing those little ear pieces that personally annoy the hell out of me. Although I'm not totally behind the idea of enforcing a new cell phone ban while driving, I can't argue the potential affect it will have on the safety of driver's lives.

So do yourself and other driver's a favor; pick up a bluetooth kit!

Protect your body's largest organ!

Summer's here, school's out, and the weather's warm... so why not hit the beach and bask in the beautiful sunshine? Don't forget your sunscreen though! It's important to wear an effective sunscreen. The attributes I look for when buying sunscreen is it's photostability (will it retain it's SPF under heat and sun exposure), it's broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection, and it's SPF (must be at least SPF 30 to provide all-day sun protection). Here are some of my recommendations.

- Coppertone Sunblock Lotion Oil Free for Faces, SPF 30. This is certainly one of my favorites. It did not irritate my skin one bit (which is great because I have skin that is only occasionally sensitive). It's also oil free which means no shine.
- Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 45. It had a pleasant scent and leaves your skin feeling soft and lovely.
- BullFrog Bull-Frog Marathon Mist Sunblock Sunscreen. Great for us lazy people. Spray and go! :)

Personally, I like buying drugstore sunblocks compared to expensive, cosmetic brand name ones. I find that they are just as effective and the less you pay, the more likely you are to apply liberally and often!

Anyhoo, I leave you with the wise words of Mary Schmich and the artful direction of Baz Luhrmann. I only wish that the speaker at my commencement was this engaging.
It seems as if 8bitjoystick has indeed confirmed the development of a Microsoft Wii-like remote for the Xbox 360, after MTV News initially broke the news. The picture above is a mock up of what the controller could look like. It's said that Microsoft's new controller has been in development since last summer and could hit the market by the end of this year. The new remote, which will be shaped very much like the original Wii controller, will feature a microphone, four face buttons, and an analog stick, based on the last reported prototype. The hope for Microsoft is to not focus solely on the prototypical "Wii Sports" games, but to also incorporate it with the popular Xbox games such as Halo & Gears of War. It has also been mentioned that Microsoft is developing an avatar system for Xbox Live, much like the one on the Nintendo Wii.
To A.P.C. or not to A.P.C.?

The new Summer/Spring 2008 A.P.C. collection has just arrived, and although I’m a big fan of A.P.C.’s high ready-to-wearability factor, this season’s collection makes it hard for me to justify paying top dollar for it versus simply purchasing similarly made items from H&M or Forever 21. Sure the pieces are freakishly enticing with its smart use of neutrals, ultra-feminine silhouettes, and just overall prettiness, but when I decide to shell out the dough for designer duds, I would expect to be compensated with the subtle details that regular cheap imitations and reiterations don’t posses.

One might argue that A.P.C. isn’t the type of brand you go to if you’re looking for quirky details and embellishments, but despite the fact that their aesthetic focuses on clean, classic clothing, I still feel that with their top notch design team and price tags, they should deliver.

Still, I’m a sucker for their goods, so I’ll still be browsing and most likely stalking for sales, but until then I may have to turn my attention away and go to other contemporary brands and their more economical counterparts for the season.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl

First of all, happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

-

It’s finally here! The planets have aligned and brought us peace and harmony on earth. Okay, well maybe I’m being a bit too dramatic, but my joy for the arrival of Super Smash Brothers Brawl is hard to contain. It really is everything we’ve all been waiting for. For the uncultured of you out there, Smash is a game (perhaps THE game) where players can take their favorite cute and fluffy Nintendo characters and beat the living snot out of each other for fun and profit. It has been heralded as one of the best tournament games ever made, and between its three incarnations it has most likely sucked away a large portion of many gamer’s lives.

The real question on everyone’s minds is how does Brawl stack up to Melee. The answer sort of depends on the player. The first question I must ask is, “Do you know what a wave dash is, and how often did you use it?” The second is “Are you comfortable learning new things?” Brawl changes the game quite a bit. The glitch known as Wave Dashing (a complicated series of moves that sent the player sliding wildly across the stage allowing them to avoid the cool down time on most abilities) is a thing of the past. The new characters (including names such as Wario, King Dedede, Solid Snake, and Sonic the Hedgehog) have styles of play very different from Melee. Even some of the classic characters have had their game changed quite a bit, some becoming far less effective while others becoming minor gods (all glory to our overlord Marth).

The real kick in the pants for this game is the online play. For those of us with friends spread all over the country, the idea of online play was a wonderful addition. So far the actual experience of this has been broken and frustrating. Games (if you can find one) take a very long time to actually begin, and often are hindered by sever lag. This is without mentioning the shockingly foolish friend codes which just seem to be punishing us for the crime of having friends. Why Nintendo can’t get their act together in the online gaming market is beyond me, but it really hurts the overall enjoyment of Smash.

The bottom line is that, despite the online problems (which in reality will probably be fixed), this is the game that will reside in that shiny blue glowing slot in your Wii for some time. There is nothing that will come out in the next year that can top this one. So go dig up your old Gamecube controllers (or pick up some classic controllers) and pick this title up for some 4 player havoc and a general good time.

Oh, and my friend code is: 0817 3444 0313

Feel free to leave yours in comments for so me Pocket Change smash action.

Sports Fans, Rejoice!

For all you die hard sports fans out there, is there any other better time of the year? The heavily anticipated NCAA basketball tournament is right around the corner, about to fill our hearts with awe-inspiring performances from Cinderella teams and drive us crazy with the inevitable bracket busters. The two weeks of March Madness is the definition of what sports are all about. If the college ranks aren't your cup of tea, you also have the conclusion of the NBA regular season. We have never seen such a close conference race as we've seen this year in the Western Conference. Every team in the Western Conference has a legitimate shot at making it to the NBA finals. The Houston Rockets are on the verge of recording a 20-game winning streak. You have surprise teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Hornets looking like they are ready to compete for a title, and you have the gold standard of the San Antonio Spurs to still deal with. With so many exciting story lines in the NBA, how could you miss a minute of the action.

Now you're probably saying to yourself, wow, I'll probably have to get at least a couple TV's just to keep up with all the action. I always say there's nothing wrong with watching 3 or 4 games at once, so I say go for it. Also, do yourself a favor, get a DVR to make sure you can record all the historical magic.

It can't get much better than that, can it?.... Well, you're wrong. The sun is out, the birds are chirping, and you can smell the freshly cut grass. To a sports fan, that only means one thing. BASBALL SEASON! Every year at this time, millions of fans renew their loyalties to their beloved teams in hopes for a World Series title. I know for a FACT, that this is the year the Dodgers will finally pull it out (OK I might be a little biased). And just to top it off, the sport's Gods decide to throw in St. Patrick's Day at the beginning of all this just as a reminder that your life is about to get that much better in March. So happy March to all you sports fan out there and I'll see you in April when all my PTO is gone.
