Ghost of Comanche Peak: A young boy encounters a ghost on Comanche Peak

The Ghost of Comanche Peak is purely a figment of my imagination. However, many of the ¿earthly¿ events could be based on embellished truths as my family and I lived at the foot of Comanche Peak in the early 50¿s. I am a 1955 graduate of Granbury High School. As I mention in the book¿s preface, the decade of the fifties must be the best ever. No doubt, some will disagree. I guess the years of your youth will always seem the best to you. The problem with most of us, we don¿t realize how good it is at the time of actual experience. Oh, if I could go back in history and relive those times, both good and bad. Maybe I¿ve done that with the writing of this book. You can decide for yourself as I remember and describe events of the Peter Pacande family. This is a story of a teenage boy growing up on a small Texas peanut farm during the extreme drought of the fifties. It tells of his farm chores, his meals, going to church, his longing to have a girlfriend and his encounter with a ghost. Does the ghost of Comanche Peak really exist? I¿m not sure. Maybe so, maybe no. Teenagers sometimes have to invent friends to have one. Whether the ghost really exists or not is for you to determine as we vicariously relive a brief time in the life of a young boy. And there is where the real story lies. Some of the scenes in this book were written with tears in my eyes as I could feel both the boy¿s pain and happiness. I hope you sense the same emotion as it may bring to mind a similar story of your youth. If you¿re a young person reading this book, perhaps it will encourage you to appreciate and pay more attention to the events of your life that are, at this very instant, shaping your tomorrows. Too soon today is gone, leaving you yearning for yesterdays. Please join me as we call on a young boy and the Ghost of Comanche Peak.

Absolutely Not

Two friends will win your heart as their adventure amazes your eyes. Gloria is brave, but Frieda is absolutely not. Gloria wants to go for a walk but Frieda absolutely does not. Everything is scary from Frieda's point of view-the river looks suspiciously like a snake, and is that a moldy old log over there, or a ferocious dog? When Frieda cries wolf one too many times, Gloria stops listening to her. But what's that in the bushes? Are the two little friends in danger, or is it another figment of Frieda's imagination? Matthew McElligott's visual illusions will have you just as amazed as Frieda is about what's absolutely real and what's absolutely not. And Gloria and Frieda's friendship will win your hearts.

Grove House

After 25 years of marriage, Jim O¿Leary is divorced and fired. Depressed and unable to find work at the age of 62, he decides to retire and move to Grove House, a retirement home in Denham, Alabama. Soon after moving in, strange experiences complicate his dealing with the onset of Alzheimer¿s. After what he believes are so many unusual deaths, he begins to wonder about what he¿s seeing and feeling. Were all of these just figments of his imagination or evidence of the history of Grove House? He begins writing a novel about it. Seeing his daughter, Norah, visit after a twenty year estrangement compounds his confusion. Is she, too, a figment? Norah tells him she is on her way to NYC to sign a book deal and promises to return. At lunch with the publishing chief, she learns he could be a ¿Comeback¿, someone who returned from the dead as they were in life for reasons known only to God. It was a belief that began with German founders of Grove House in the 1600s. Her father wrote about it in his book. The possibility of the dead returning far exceeds her excitement with signing a generous publishing contract. Even though a psychiatrist and priest in NYC pooh-pooh the belief, she is obsessed with the possibility. Do some return? Were they his imaginings? Were there murders? What she discovers upon her return compounds the mystery of her father¿s place of retirement. And, in the end, was she a mystery herself? With the feeling of ¿The Others¿ and the shock of ¿Psycho¿, ¿ Grove House ¿ is a tale of what might happen as we age and settle in a place that¿s even more unsettling and a tale of strange beliefs that may not be so strange after all.

The Clinicians Guide to Golf Related Mental Conditions - New

High gloss cover with a sealed comb binding. Does your significant other, brother or father in law suffer from obsessive compulsive golf syndrome? This manual is a humorous analysis of golfers by golfers, featuring "ACE McSHANKSKI". The noted syndromes are not endorsed by any medical authority. However, this manual may produce laughter. Laughter during the appropriate situation is considered healthy by many known authorities. To avoid the possibility of sudden projectile discharge from the mouth, do not read while consuming food or beverages. Reading this manual may cause "busted guts". If you are prone to this condition consult your physician prior to reading this manual. This is not a self help book. No guru's were consulted. Like many prior treatise on human behavior this manual is the figment of someone's imagination. Freud somehow failed to develop any in depth theories relating pathology to the behavior of grown men hitting small balls with a long stick for the better part of an entire day. All subsequent manuals by noted theorists also omitted diagnostic criteria for golf related mental conditions. Someone who has never played the game of golf could easily reach the conclusion that you need to be crazy to engage in such an odd behavior. This manual was developed by golfers for the purpose of explaining the odd behaviors exhibited by other golfers. This manual uses a simple model for making a diagnosis. There is a list from which you choose recognizable behaviors. If the behaviors on the list meet the requirements described, then the syndrome is identified. You can now throw these diagnostic terms around like children in a food fight.
