This wine is from Greece, Cyclades region, Santorini sub-region. Mavrotragano is a rare, but very interesting indigenous red variety of Santorini. Mavrotragano is quickly matured even by the end of August and in the past it was used for sweet wines or sometimes for Vinsanto. It is a variety with low performance and it is very sensitive in dry climatological conditions. The grapes are long and fleshy, with bright color, with thick skin and crispy. The fermentation of mavrotragano raises the alcohol of the wine up to 14o-15o vol with a very well balanced acidity.. Bright red color with aromas of gooseberry and cherry. Our Estate Sauvignon Blanc is grown in cool fog-influenced Russian River Valley. These cool nights and warm days give wine rich tropical fruit flavors balanced by a minerality backbone of citrus fruits. 2013 vintage was cold fermented completely dry in a stainless steel tank to secure all of esters and aromas in wine. One-third of juice was soaked on skins for 16 hours prior to pressing, to increase aromatics and mouthfeel. Aromas of feijoa, yuzu, and gooseberry precede kiwi-fruit, apple and lemon sorbet flavors on pallet.
