Tignanello Toscana 2011 750ml

This wine is from Italy, Tuscany region, Toscano sub-region. 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc.. Humming with energy and life from the very moment you put your nose in the glass, Marchesi Antinori's 2010 Tignanello shows magnificent aromatic layering and an enormous capacity to peel back and reveal itself in beautiful slow motion. This is an articulate wine with a long story to tell about the quality of its profound 2010 fruit. This Tignanello has the elegance of 2004 and the structure of 2007. A brief note on the structure: The mouthfeel here is not broad and big. Instead, it shows a sharp and elegantly streamlined feel with impressive persistency. Compared to 2009, the Sangiovese component is slightly higher with 80% of the noble Tuscan variety followed by 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2035. The past 12 months mark one of the most exciting times in the long, long history of Antinori. Marchese Piero Antinori and his daughters inaugurated their monumental winery in Bargino, about 20 minutes from Florence in late 2012 after a series of last-minute preparations and sleepless nights. Winery doors officially opened to the public in 2013. It would be impossible to exaggerate to grandeur of this sprawling, multimillion-dollar underground edifice. Angelo Gaja told me at the opening that Antinori's new winery is the most revolutionary event in modern Italian wine. I agree. With a museum, restaurant and tasting area, it represents Italy's most ambitious effort yet to make wine the ultimate destination. ITALIAN RED BLEND Wine ITALIAN STILL WINE

Manna 2011 750ml

This wine is from Italy, Trentino-alto Adige region, Alto Adige sub-region. Manna, a very individual wine which Franz Haas has dedicated to his wife Maria Luisa Manna, is a blend of Riesling, Chardonnay, a late Traminer Aromatico harvest and a small percentage of Sauvignon Blanc. The vines from the four vineyards are in the municipalities of Montagna, Egna and Aldino, at an inclusive altitude of between 350 and 850 meters. The soils, quite different one from the other, are of Dolomite origin, porphyric, sandy and marly, with a south-western exposure.. While young, the wine has a nuanced golden yellow appearance, but after several years of aging, intense golden tones appear. Thanks to its individual characteristics, Manna seduces with a complex and layered bouquet recalling notes of elderflower, pistachios and rose petals. It stands out also for its complexity and concentrations, combined with a soft elegance and a mineral structure. During the many phases of its development, this wine displays different characteristics and perspectives, changing both in the bottle and in the glass, continuing to surprise and amaze.. Manna is best when paired with noble and rich dishes. It is fascinating how this wine adapts itself to different dishes, among which to Japanese cuisine in particular, such as sushi and sashimi, surprising and renewing itself continuously thanks to its multiplicity of depth and structure. Late Harvest 2007 375ml

This wine is from United States, California region, Napa County sub-region and Napa Valley appellation. Napa Valleys Dolce Winery is the only winery in North America that is solely devoted to producing a single, late harvest wine. It is one of the few wineries in the world willing to make such a commitment, sharing a common philosophy with the great Sauternes producers of Bordeaux.Named from the Italian phrase Dolce Far Niente - sweet doing nothing - Dolce (pronounced dol chay) began in 1985 as an idea over a glass of Chardonnay at Far Niente. What started as a project to make a tiny quantity of late harvest wine for the personal enjoyment of the owners, has evolved into the most recognizable and highly rated late harvest wine produced in North America.By its nature, Dolce is a rare wine that cannot be produced every year. Dolce is made when a natural, beneficial mold called botrytis cinerea attacks the grapes on the vine, while evaporating the water content and concentrating the sugars, acids and flavors. The inaugural 1985 vintage yielded only six barrels, and production grew to nine barrels in 1986. The 1987 vintage was not fine enough to be bottled and 1988 was so warm that no botrytis formed and the grapes were never harvested. The 1989 vintage was the first commercial release of Dolce and it was introduced to the market in 1992.More than a decade after its commercial debut, Dolce has been able to produce wine in every vintage since 1989. The quantity has varied greatly, from as few as 300 cases to as many as 3,000, depending on how much botrytis develops each year. Plans to expand the future production of Dolce are underway. Currently produced from its own 17-acre vineyard in the Coombsville area, east of the city of Napa, another 10 acres were planted in 2001, with a potential first harvest in 2005..

Shardana 2008 750ml

This wine is from Italy, Sardinia region, Valli Di Porto Pino sub-region. One of the most fascinating details about SHARDANA (c. 85% Carignano, 15% Shiraz) resides in the seafront vines: some over 100 years old, many rare, pre-Phylloxera stock. Their roots grow in finely textured, wind-swept sand that naturally:1. Makes it difficult for Phylloxera to deposit its eggs.2. When the parasite does attack the roots, producing small holes in them, these cavities are immediately filled up by grains of sand that “heal the wounds', allowing the plant to thrive in spite of Phylloxera. This exceptional circumstance, together with state-of-the-art quality standards and 1 year’s careful elevage in barrique, produce an extract-packed, luscious, full-bodied wine. The color is a deep, deep purple with ruby reflections indicating concentration, intensity, complexity. Its black cherry notes are ripely confirmed on the nose, where fruit, leather and game are laced with subtle spice. On the palate, lingering aromas of mature cherries, well integrated oak and spices, smooth, silky texture and layered structure, very long finish.. Very intense, dark, deep ruby red; ample & complex nose of black cherry fruit, leather & game laced with subtle spice, vanilla, black pepper, dried flowers; palate shows ripe cherries, well integrated oak & spices, smooth, silky texture & layered complexi. Best served at 18 C (64.4 F) in a very large wine glass with medium-wide opening. Matches seasoned cheeses, roasts, red meat, kid and lamb. CARIGNANE^SYRAH Wine Italian Still Wine

Bricco Asili Barbaresco Bernardot 2009 750ml

This wine is from Italy, Piedmont region, Barbaresco sub-region. For more than 80 years the Ceretto family has been making wine in Piedmont's Langhe. The family is most well known for producing coveted single-vineyard estate grown Nebbiolo wines and high quality Arneis and Moscato. Their wine production covers seven separate estates, while an eighth (I Vignaiolo di Santo Stefano) is co-owned along with two other growers. The Cerettos were the first producers in Piedmont to use stainless steel for fermenting red wine and adopted other modern techniques, including temperature control for fermentation, reduced maceration times and new oak aging. When Ceretto produced its first Arneis, only 74 acres of this grape were planted in the region. Today there are more than 1,200 acres planted to Arneis. The Ceretto Arneis is considered the benchmark and one in every five bottles of Arneis produced in Piedmont bears the Blange label.. Purchased in 1997, Bernardot is located in Treiso and sits at an elevation of 1,300 feet facing south. Composed of three different soils, (clay 42%, silt 35% and sand 23%) it was entirely replanted from 1998-2000. The grapes were hand-picked, destemmed and transferred to stainless steel, temperature controlled tanks for fermentation followed by a brief maceration. The wine aged in 300L French oak barriques (50% new) for 22 months at the Ceretto's Bricco Asili estate.. Deep ruby in the glass, the wine has aromas of deep red fruit, with slight notes of toast and spice. Made in a more modern style, this Barbaresco is concentrated and focused.
