We co-fermented Zinfandel with a touch of Petite Sirah to add complexity and structure, and then aged wine in large oak casks so flavors are well integrated but not overwhelmed by oak. This food-friendly Zinfandel's flavors of strawberries, red plums, orange zest, and a hint of white pepper make it perfect match for grilled meats, lasagna, pizza topped with tomato sauce, and beef stews.
Red Zinfandel wine by Rochioli from Russian River, California.
Named after my dad, this 55-year old vineyard is five acres in size and has a very special place in my heart. Located on a rocky hillside bench on eastern side of Dry Creek, it's place I used to play as a child, and where my son Adam was first introduced to viticulture. selection of Zinfandel, Carignane and Petite Sirah grown in Gino's Vineyard represents a traditional field blend my Father made each year. Full of lush ripe red fruit. It has a core of sweet red currant and strawberry. Good acidity and a bright finish make this a great match for many foods.
2012 Heritage Vineyard Zinfandel is a juicy, fruit forward style of Zinfandel, displaying lively red raspberry notes, white pepper, cinnamon, with subtle oak spice and vanilla. A true "crowd pleaser",it showcases Zinfandel'ss playful side, while staying true to varietal's historic roots. 2012 vintage Winemaker, Chris Leamy of Terra d'Oro Winery Heritage Vineyard Zinfandel is produced by Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP), a not-for-profit, membership based, organization with mission to advance public knowledge of and appreciation for American Zinfandel and its unique place in our culture and history. Aromas of spice box and red fruit. Intense flavors of currant, candied apple and Zinfandel's briary essence. Soft entry with focused acidity and an extremely long finish. Pairs well with hearty beef, spicy red sauce pasta and dry-rubbed barbecue. Wilfred Wong of Wine.com rating: 91.
2012 wine has a deep purple color of substantial depth that is due to inclusion of 15% Petite Sirah in final blend. hues are a youthfully bright garnet. aroma is loaded with black raspberry, dark cherry and boysenberry. For 2012 vintage, we introduced almost 20% older neutral barrels into aging profile. This has put a bit more emphasis on wine's aroma but there are still significant notes of vanilla and hazelnut to bouquet. flavors are round and luscious and feature succulent red currants, raspberry and deeply toasted almost smoky oak. This wine has a thick, almost oily, viscosity we have not seen in years. This exceptional body comes with mature integrated tannins which only add to wine's velvety texture. This is one of most substantial Z Zinfandels we have ever produced. depth of flavor along with good acidity indicates that this wine will reward those, that can provide it with a year or two in cellar, with additional nuances to both flavor and bouquet. Blend: 85% Zinfandel 15% P
One of biggest and darkest wines made at Dashe Cellars, Todd Brothers Ranch Zinfandel comes from a stellar old vine vineyard located in Geyserville in Alexander Valley. These old vines, planted over 50 years ago, consistently pump out some of our best and most long-lived Zinfandel bottlings. difficult growing conditions of these steep red rock slopes make vines struggle to produce a small quantity of grapes, resulting in a zinfandel that is almost Cabernet-like in intensity and structure. Truly a steak-house wine - drink it with heart meals! Wine Enthusiast rating: 90.
Deep red. An intensely perfumed bouquet displays fresh red berries, flowers and herbs, with an exotic hint of singed orange. High-pitched red berry and cherry flavors are given spine by juicy acidity and show very good clarity, with a spicy kick on back half. This tangy, precise wine finishes with good youthful snap and mineral-driven persistence. 2012 Dickerson is a brilliant example of Napa Valley Zinfandel with bright acidity and ripe, red fruit. Good weight and a nice mouthfeel set stage for a fruity, lingering finish. Wilfred Wong of Wine.com rating: 93.

This classic California Zinfandel is deep purple-red, with a bright, youthful red hue. Lifted aromas of raspberry and cranberry waft from glass, followed by a wave of licorice and spice. On palate, wine is lush and concentrated. Flavors of ripe cherry and vanilla converge toward blackberry and spice. Very fine tannins and great length make for a satisfying finish. Blend: 95% Zinfandel, 5% Petite Sirah
Jack's Cabin Zinfandel has a reputation of being most fruit forward of Rockpile Zins, and 2012 does not disappoint. Dried red fruit dominates nose and is complimented beautifully by richer flavors of chocolate and mocha. palate is like eating a chocolate covered cherry sprinkled with perfect touch of white pepper. For all of ripe fruit, Jack's Cabin still exhibits Rockpile signature of great intensity and full tannins. On the finish, acidity is perfectly balanced, giving wine length and making it a great accompaniment to food.
