M5 Clincher Wheelset One Color, One Size

It's appropriate that Mercury Wheels' name and logo reference a Roman god who is the patron of, among other things, travelers and thieves. Atop Mercury's M5 Wheelset, Eric Marcotte journeyed from his day job in Arizona to Chattanooga, Tennessee to nab the 2014 US national championship ahead of the pros of the European peloton. It's the ultimate race wheel for the working cyclist. If you're in the market for deep dish carbon rims, then you've probably already made the assumption that the number in the M5's name denotes a depth of 55 millimeters. The rim's width is left out, though, and rim width is a big deal these days. The M5 is a solid 23. 5 millimeters wide, which means you can run lower PSI for a more comfortable ride that corners with unparalleled confidence. Wider rims also have some counter-intuitive effects when compared to those standard 19 millimeter rims: they actually decrease rolling resistance and increase aerodynamics. The M5s' construction uses Mercury's Dual Carbon Layer Process, or DLP. DLP blends high- and mid-moduli carbon fibers to tease out the best balance between the lightweight and stiffness of the former and the fatigue-resistance and durability of the latter. DLP also involves the incorporation of basalt fibers in the brake track to reduce heat build-up and increase stopping power. This increased stopping power goes a long way toward addressing the poor braking that is one of the most common critiques of carbon wheels. The aerodynamic benefits of a deep dish rim are further complemented by Mercury's Seamless Transition Technology (STT), which integrates the brake strip with the rest of the rim in order to eliminate any obstructions to wind flow and reduce drag-causing turbulence. The result of this construction is a wheel that balances the above qualities with considerations of weight for what Mercury claims is its "most popular wheel by far." The M5s are finished off with Sapim's indefatigable CX-Ray spokes and Mercury's own hubs. ...

Overdrive Sport 29er Mountain Bike Save on Great Bikes Under 600 Dollars

Diamondback Overdrive Sport 29er Mountain Bike. If you're a member of the declining population of riders who still hasn't thrown a leg over a 29er, the Diamondback Overdrive Sport might just be the bike to push you off the fence. There's just no denying the rock-crawling, root-crushing power of a larger 29 wheel. Making the largest of obstacles the smallest of matters is a defining trait of these rigs. Throw decreased rolling resistance, increased traction when cornering, as well as improved ground clearance into the conversation and this 29er is sure to sway even the staunchest skeptic. First off, this lightweight aluminum bike is a climber and an obstacle-conqueror par excellence. At its core is a 6061-T6 aluminum Overdrive series frame boasting newly formed top and down tubes, a machined head tube, and forged drop outs for added durability. The ever-so-sloping top tube provides ample stand-over clearance while geometry-wise the frame is perfectly on target for making quick work of cross country and trail-riding endeavors with a 71 head tube angle and a 73 seat tube angle. The 390mm (15.4 inch) chainstays, too, ensure this 29er is extremely responsive and a flat-out joy to ride. The Overdrive Sport's 29 wheels give you a leg up when it comes to rolling over rocks, roots, and such but you'll surely appreciate the SR Suntour XCT-LO 29 suspension fork up front that ably delivers 100mm of travel for the perfect amount of cushion. Changing gears is a piece of cake on the 24-speed drivetrain with trusty Shimano derailleurs front and rear coupled with Shimano trigger shifters on the bars. The SR Suntour XCR SIX crankset features a tried-and-true 44/32/22t chainring selection and coupled with a wide-range 11-32t cassette on the rear wheel you've got the tools to both ascend like a mountain goat and stoke your inner speed demon on rip roaring descents. And speaking of bombing downhill, the Shimano BR-M395 hydraulic disc brakes and their astounding stopping power will let you rein things in before they get outta control. Weinmann is a renowned purveyor of quality rims and their SL-7 Doublewall aluminum model here on the Overdrive Sport provides peace of mind and trusty, predictable handling over any terrain. While wolverines are not something we recommend tangling with in the wild, we'll make an exception when it comes to WTB Wolverine tires as their slight tread profile belies its fierce bite. This fast-rolling, 2.2 width tire tackles dicey descents, flies across flats and devours steep climbs all day long. With such a bevy of awesomeness exuding from the Diamondback Overdrive Sport we wager it's a lock that this rig will boost the fun factor up to Mach 10.

Single-Speed Cyclocross Bike BIG discounts on these great Bikes

Nashbar Single-Speed Cyclocross Bike. Finally a single-speed version of one of Nashbar's cyclocross bike that will help you dish out generous servings of your chro-mo mojo to the competition. The Nashbar Single-Speed Cyclocross Bike has an abuse-proof chromoly frame and fork at its heart and soul. And while this steel beauty may pack more grams than its more svelte aluminum and carbon fiber brethren, what it truly inspires is confidence -- confidence in the handling, confidence in ride quality, and the confidence that when you hit the deck (and if you're doing 'cross right that fact is inevitable) your steel rig will still be in one piece and ready to rumble when you pick yourself up. The amount of punishment this frameset can withstand is simply astounding. While some 'cross bikes take the super purist route and provide no water bottle cage braze-ons, we, on the other hand, believe differently. 'Cross bikes are the true all-arounders of the cycling world and just because it may not be de rigueur for world-class racing steads to have their thoroughbred lines blighted with braze-ons this steel stallion is intended to be ridden, and ridden a lot, in non-racing environs. And you know what? You're going to get thirsty. So we highly recommend slapping a cage on and heading out for all kinds of adventure. Come race day, just take that cage off (if you even so desire) and you're good to go. Component-wise, feast your eyes on the slew of lightweight aluminum goodies that make this rig such an extraordinary value. Being a single-speed, though, there's not that much actually there -- these are the ultimate in simplicity after all -- but you'll find the aluminum crankset, and its 46T chainring, to be a super clean, reliable selection. The aluminum bars, stem and seatpost are all workman-like, too, in their utter reliability, simplicity, and durability. In the vein of simplicity and reliability, nothing beats a solid pair of cantilever brakes to modulate your speed and these Tektro gems will treat you right. There's ample clearance to keep your wheels spinning freely in slime and grime and there's no annoying mushiness at all when you pull the levers -- just crisp, firm action. Swapping out pads is a snap, too, with their cartridge holders. Alex alloy rims are nigh indestructible and the Kenda Small Block Eight 'cross tires are an awesome option for those with speed on the brain. Optimized for fast acceleration and hard-pack surfaces, they just rip it up when you apply power to the pedals as if you've got a small block V8 for legs. Have we mentioned what a versatile all-arounder the Nashbar Single-Speed Cyclocross Bike is? As is you've got the goods to duke it out for podium honors on the 'cross course or simply head off-road for adventure and hijinks. Not one to be pigeonholed, however, this bike also makes a head-turning city or commuter bike as well--just sticker it up, maybe swap out the knobs for fatty slicks, and start assaulting the urban scape. But n

Cosmic Carbone SLE Carbon Road Wheelset - Clincher White Graphics, Shimano/SRAM

Mavic constructed the Cosmic Carbone SLE Carbon Clincher Road Wheelset with striking similarity to the Carbone SLR. The wheels start with a Maxtal aluminum rim brought together with a seamless SUP weld. The brake track is then milled for a smooth, finish. The use of a Maxtal rim is a natural choice, given the strength to weight ratio and braking ability. Mavic mills out the unused area of the rim between spoke holes to reduce rotational weight without impacting stiffness or durability. The brake track and rim are finished with the Exalith 2 treatment. Though the treatment may look like a simple matte finish, you'll notice a crescent pattern through the entire brake track. This pattern improves braking power and modulation, and increases the durability of the rim even further. The brilliance of this type of wheel design is that the Maxtal rim takes the daily beating, but the carbon fairing gives you an aerodynamic advantage without the weight penalty you'd incur if the entire wheel were alloy. The 52mm-deep fairing is finished with the same 12K weave as the SLRs, and hits a nice midpoint between the just-barely-deep-enough, and the too-deep-to-ride-in-crosswinds. If your rim is aerodynamic but your hub and spokes act like a windsock, your energy is lost. Mavic improved its hub design to be more aerodynamic on the Carbone SLR wheels, with a flatter construction than lower end offerings. Both hubs use double-sealed, QRM+ cartridge bearings, which are micro-adjustable. For more stability in the rear hub, Mavic uses FTS-L reinforcement between the pawl and hub body; two stainless steel inserts add strength without much weight. Bladed, straight pull, steel spokes lace the rims to the hubs in a 16 spoke, radial pattern on the front wheel. The rear wheel uses a radial/two-cross pattern with 20 spokes for a balance of weight and strength. Mavic is expanding its line of wheel-tire system, and included Griplink/ Powerlink front and rear specific clincher tires with the Cosm...

i35 Carbon Road Wheelset - Clincher Campy, 20/24h F/R

We love the smooth, fast ride of carbon rims, but let's face it, we also want a wheelset that has character. And whether it's the stunning anodized finish, or the fact that the hubs are built in North Carolina by fanatical cyclists, there's no denying that the Industry Nine i35 Carbon Clincher Wheelset has character in spades. Running the all-new Torch road hub, which mates mile-crushing efficiency to a perfectly sealed, low-drag engagement mechanism, the i35's are race ready. But if you decide you want to use them for training rides, we wouldn't blame you. They're more than tough enough. The fact that they're so darn pretty is just the cherry on top. The heart of the I-series road wheels lies the redesigned Torch road hub, and as always, the artfully machined hubset is built in North Carolina by people who ride hard. And while the exquisite anodized finish is eye catching, it's what's inside that really counts. Namely, the new Torch three pawl driver. It's the same driver used in the Torch mountain hubset, and like their mountain brethren, the I-series road hub is rated to withstand 700 ft/lbs of torque. In other words, unless you're powering your bike via a built diesel engine, there is zero chance of slippage under power as long as the hub is well maintained. Speaking of which, Industry Nine manufactures its own Teflon contact seals at the endcaps, which effectively seals the hub against the most tenacious mud in 'cross racing, and they run drag-free, for logging those road miles. Unlike I9's mountain wheelsets, the I-series wheelset makes use of Sapim's trusted CX-Ray stainless steel spokes to maintain their perfect roundness. These forged, bladed spokes have a reputation as the planet's strongest, stiffest option for securing a hub to a rim, which will quell any fears of failure, no matter how many potholes you manage to ride through. Enhancing the strength is a 2:1 lacing pattern on the 24 spoke rear wheel, with eight of those spokes on the non-drive side...

i25 Road Wheelset - Tubeless Black/Black, One Size

When it comes to looks, few components match the finish Industry Nine's attention to detail produces. This holds true for the i25 Tubeless Road Wheelset, and to ensure performance matches expectations, a redesigned Torch hub, 2:1-laced Sapim spokes, and a 23mm-wide tubeless-ready rim team up for incredible performance in a package that's equally at home racing or training. As always, the artfully machined Torch hubset is built in North Carolina by people who ride hard. It's the same driver used in the Torch mountain hubset, but to reduce drag, three pawls are used instead of six. On that same note, Industry Nine manufactures its own Teflon contact seals to defend against tenacious 'cross-racing mud, while still running drag-free for stacking on road miles. Unlike I9's mountain wheelsets, the I-series wheelset makes use of Sapim's trusted CX-Ray stainless steel spokes. These forged, bladed spokes have a reputation as a strong, stiff option for securing a hub to a rim. Enhancing the strength is a 2:1 lacing pattern on the 24-spoke rear wheel, with eight of those spokes on the non-drive side, and 16 on the drive side. The result is reduced wind-up of the wheels under power for phenomenal power transfer, but with the lightness that comes with reduced spoke counts. Industry Nine forgoes traditional 19-19. 5mm rim widths in favor of a 23. 2mm-wide extrusion. This allows the use of 10 to 15 PSI lower tire pressures, and provides a tubular-like ride quality along with enhanced cornering grip. Add the ability of going tubeless, and those characteristics are only enhanced. And as an added bonus, when coupled with 23 and 25mm tires, the wider rims provide better airflow for enhanced aerodynamics. The Industry Nine i25 Tubeless Road Wheelset is available with a Shimano/SRAM 11-speed freehub and in the colors Black/black and Black/red.

C58 Aero Disc Wheelset

Fast, stable, reliable, and made in the good 'ol US of A are all characteristics Industry Nine is proud to say its new C58 Aero Disc Wheelset fully embodies. These new wheels are exclusive to Competitive Cyclist, and they're made by North Carolina's talented group of wheelbuilders for those looking to get the most out of their disc-equipped machines. The heart of the C-series road wheels lies in the redesigned Torch road hub, and, as always, the artfully machined hubset is built in North Carolina by people who ride hard. And while the exquisite anodized finish is eye catching, it's what's inside that really counts. Namely, the new Torch three pawl driver. It's the same driver used in the Torch mountain hubset, and like their mountain brethren, it's rated to withstand 700 ft/lbs of torque. The wheelset makes use of Sapim's trusted CX-Ray stainless steel spokes to maintain their perfect roundness. These forged, bladed spokes have a reputation as the planet's strongest, stiffest option for securing a hub to a rim, which will quell any fears of failure, no matter how many potholes you manage to ride through. Enhancing the strength is a 2:1 lacing pattern on the 24 spoke rear wheel, with eight of those spokes on the non-drive side, and 16 on the drive side. The result is reduced wind-up of the wheels under power for phenomenal power transfer, but with the lightness that comes with reduced spoke counts. Industry Nine's core competency is in working with metal, so the master machinists from North Carolina paired up with the carbon gurus at Reynolds to supply a carbon fiber rim worthy of ...

i25 Road Wheelset - Tubeless Black/Red, One Size

Ultralight CX Disc Wheelset Black/Black, One Size

In mountain biking's big-wheel battle of the '00s, Industry Nine entered the fray with engineered answers to flex and weight issues. This let the manufacturer rise to the top of the off-road market and led to the development of the Ultralight CX Disc Wheelset. One of its proven technologies applied to the wheelset is the 21mm internal width (25mm external), tubeless-compatible Ultralite mountain rim. The oversized extrusion is wider and deeper than traditional rims -- for improved stiffness and better control that approaches carbon rims, but at a much lower cost. It features a tubeless-ready profile and includes tape and valves with a removable core for easy sealant application. Laced to the rims are disc-specific Torch hubs, in a 2:1 pattern with Sapim spokes. As always, the artfully machined Torch hubset is built in North Carolina by people who ride hard. It's the same driver used in the mountain hubset but, to reduce drag, three pawls are used instead of six. On that same note, Industry Nine manufactures its own Teflon contact seals to defend against tenacious 'cross mud, while still remaining drag-free for stacking on gravel and road miles. Unlike I9's mountain wheelsets, the CX makes use of Sapim's trusted CX-Ray stainless steel spokes. These forged, bladed spokes have a reputation as a strong, stiff option for securing a hub to a rim. Enhancing the strength is a 2:1 lacing pattern on the 24-spoke rear wheel, with eight of those spokes on the non-drive side, and 16 on the drive side. The result is reduced wind-up for phenomenal power transfer, but with the lightness that comes with reduced spoke counts. Industry Nine recommends tires over 28mm wide for use with the Ultralight CX Disc Wheelset, and it sets a rider weight limit of 190lbs. The wheels are compatible with Shimano/SRAM 11-speed freehubs, and they come in a Black/black or Black/red finish and use six-bolt rotors.
