Zaskar 27.5 LE Expert Complete Mountain Bike - 2015 Gloss Blue, M

As the top-rung on the ladder in GT's alloy Zaskar 27. 5-inch hardtail family, the 2015 GT Zaskar 27. 5 LE Expert Complete Mountain Bike is as premium as they come -- running a 1x10 drivetrain and rolling on premium wheels with a full Race Face cockpit at your control, it's ready for any cross-country ride that you are. Of course, the skeleton of any hardtail mountain bike is its frame, and that frame informs every aspect of the bike's performance. GT has spent the better part of more than three decades studying this, and the Zaskar is a great demonstration of what its engineers have come to understand. The Zaskar 27. 5 frame uses a proprietary blend of aluminum alloys called Speed Metal Ultra, with each metal allocated specifically to various areas of the frame, including the top tube, seat tube, down tube, bottom bracket junction, and other areas wherein the demands on the material are unique to that particular section. The result is a fine-tuned frame that's light enough to slay some cross-country singletrack but tough enough to rip some serious all-mountain trails, as well. A big portion of the frame's capability is owed to GT's famed Triple Triangle design. The seatstays are elongated to join the mainframe not at the seat tube/top tube junction, but further forward on the top tube. The seat stays are welded to the frame not just here, but also where they cross the seat tube. This configuration achieves several things. First, it shrinks the rear triangle. The tighter angles make it stiffer, for greater acceleration and less torque-robbing torsional flex under load. Secondly, the fact that the seatstays stay straighter for longer before they join the frame means they are wider at the seat tube junction, again reinforcing lateral stiffness for greater stability and responsiveness. Of equal importance is the durability which the design affords -- there's a reason you see so many decades-old GT frames still roaming the trails out there, and this is a big part of ...

Evolve Carbon Mountain Bike Frame - 2015 Matte Carbon/White /Black Rocker, S

Mountain bikers are often caricatured as beer-swilling, lowbrow versions of their skinny tire counterparts, uninterested in anything but the thrill of mud-covered, terrain-smashing lunacy. We contend that this is unfair, as many of us appreciate the multifaceted refinement of a bike like Ellsworth's Evolve Carbon Mountain Bike Frameset. The Evolve is not only handles terrain with confidence, but it also climbs well and has the cross-country speed pedigree of 29-inch wheels. It doesn't skimp on good looks, either, with Ellsworth claiming that it's a piece of "performance art." We agree, and we've found that the best way to appreciate this particular piece is covered in mud while enjoying a cold beer after a maniacal run through a rock garden. The Evolve Carbon is built with Ellsworth's Force Vector Anisotropic Design, which translates into unidirectional Toray carbon fiber laid-up in varying shapes and wall thicknesses in order to strike a balance between weight and energy transfer while keeping the suspension system's pivot points aligned. In the rear triangle, the addition of CNC machined aluminum rockers and chainstays makes for an even stiffer drivetrain, and the single 12 millimeter bolt needed for each pivot assemble makes for a lighter, less complicated system. Fewer parts mean fewer issues, and you can ride confidently knowing that the part that is there happens to be the size of your rear axle. The semi-integrated tapered head tube takes advantage of the steep head tube angle for a stiff front end that elevates 29er steering to levels you'd expect from smaller wheels. Ellsworth claims that the Evolve Carbon's Instant Center Tracking (ICT) suspension is the most advanced suspension platform in the world. As it moves through travel, ICT keeps the instant center (or virtual pivot created by ICT's four bar suspension) as close to the chain force line as possible. In on-trail terms, this maintains a steady pedaling platform so your power is always transfer...

Xenon 2.0 AS Vest - Men's White/Red, XXL

One of the lightest offerings from Gore Bike Wear, the Xenon 2. 0 AS Vest is the perfect way to quickly enhance your core warmth during a mountain descent. Using the Xenon jacket as a base, Gore engineered the vest to offer excellent wind and water protection and better breathability. The key to this is the Gore-Tex Active Shield fabric. A proprietary lamination technology integrates the backer textile directly into the Gore-Tex membrane. The full front zip lets you quickly change air flow for comfort or, with the help of a draft flap, block it out completely. The long drop tail protects from road spray, and its elastic with a gripper hem to prevent migration. Having access to key items while riding is essential, so Gore gave the Xenon 2. 0 Vest a large zippered back pocket to hold gear. The Gore Bike Wear Xenon 2. 0 Vest is available in Black, Red, and White. It comes in sizes Small through X-Large.

Countdown 2.0 Short - Women's Olive, M

How many times have you had to weigh out the advantages of durability versus comfort in regard to mountain bike shorts? We're willing to bet that it's too many. Well, with the Countdown 2. 0 Women's Shorts, Gore Bike Wear took into account all of the precarious variables that the all-mountain rider encounters. And accordingly, these shorts provide unprecedented levels of comfort, flexibility, storage, and durability. Essentially, Gore created one pair of shorts for every part of the mountain. While many shorts that bear the self-appointed 'all-mountain' classification are constructed from materials like cordura or other stuffy and stiff fabrics like it, Gore used entirely different approach for the Countdown 2. 0. Instead, Gore opted for a 100% polyester composition, ensuring the utmost in breathability, moisture management, and freedom of movement. This isn't to say that the shorts are flimsy, far from it. Instead, you'll find thicknesses of polyester are durable, abrasion-resistant, and highly breathable. This plays directly to what Gore calls its Outfit Systems. Essentially, like the Countdown lineage, this system ensures the right tool for the job. It's comprised of three layers, each with its own purpose. Layer one provides moisture management, layer two (where these shorts fall under) provides thermo-regulation, and layer three provides protection from the elements. So, it's easy to see that these shorts perform their appointed function dutifully. However, Gore wasn't finished with this ideology after it selected the fabric. Instead, a special focus was placed on both fit and construction. Starting with the latter, these shorts feature shifted seams that move the seams away from the locomotion of the legs. Accordingly, your legs aren't confronted with the seams during the pedaling motion, and thus, chafing as a result of movement is eliminated. Furthermore, the cut of the shorts lends itself to further reducing abrasion by essentially being pre-shaped to ...
