This is the most disappointing product I have bought in a long time. The radio reception is so bad, it's unusable. There is no excuse for shipping such a bad product. Do not buy.

A lot of people here seem to have reception trouble. I don't. If you can get get reception with a walkman or Sansa or the like, then the RadioShark should work fine for you. I have no reception trouble at all. What it is, exactly, is a radio that is plugged into the usb port of your comp. It plays through your comp speakers and is controlled by a small applet tuner. You may set the applet to record radio programs on a timed or Tivo-type basis if you like. Set the applet to the stations you like then switch stations with two clicks. If you have keyboard controls for media, you can also control on/off and volume from the keyboard-That's the part I like. I used to listen to streaming download of a station I liked at work and controlled the speakers with the keyboard. When I got a call, hit the button to kill the speakers, take and finish the call, hit the button again for sound return. Perfect-makes me sound so professional to not have a radio blaring in the background of my business calls. I guess too many of us were doing that because the IT guys started blocking media sites. I think it must have been some SILLY bandwith issue. The RadioShark brought back my system. I am now a very happy camper.

My goodness. This is the second version of the Radio Shark and they still didn't get it right. And for the price...well, maybe they should be selling it for $19.95 on a Billy Mays infomercial. Here's the thing. This radio has terrible reception. I could get a better signal with a wooden antenna. If you can find a way to tweak the antenna so that it picks up a few stations, then you're on to the second hurdle: the unit's software. Give me a break. I don't care if it works or doesn't work, just pick something and be consistent! Works like a charm one day, then I can't get it to record or pick up anything the next day. And I'm not even messing with the settings or software at all! I went through the initial setup process and have left it and all other sound settings on my computer alone since then. Again: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. A real hit or miss kind of product.

I got this Mp3 player to try out something newer than the one I have. It seemed to look good online, but when I got it the problems started flowing... First of all, the design is pretty bad. The cursor switch that you use to change tracks and the volume sticks out from the side of the player and it super sensitive. This is pretty bad if you're getting this to go run or workout with, because everytime you bump against it, you switch tracks or mess up the volume. Horrible design for anything other than laying it flat on a desk and sitting still. Secondly, the software has some issues with startup and track playing. Some days it'll go relatively quickly, but others it will just crawl to get you to the next song. When you pair that up with the cursor switch, you have a pretty crappy item. In short, save your money. If you want to give it a try, fine, but keep your old one around. You'll go back to it with open arms.

Overall, for its price, this is a good value. However, I find some flaws with the volume settings. First, the volume settings do not increase gradually enough. The difference between volume 16, for example, and volume 17 is a little too drastic. Secondly, volume settings are not consistent across different equalizer settings. For example, volume 16 on the "bass" setting sounds much louder than the same volume for other equalizer settings, especially the "normal" setting, which is markedly quieter than the others. Note, of course, that while it is mac-compatible, it will not play music files purchased via i-tunes.

Have not used the recorder as yet. All systems have worked to our expectations. Only improvement would be a way to increase bass and/or treble. Would purchase again.

This is great product. There is nothing to assemble and the box looks like an antique. No complaints with sound quality!
