I purchased this a week ago as a birthday present for my boyfriend. He loves it, and so do I. It arrived in a timely manner, in intact packaging. I had a friend who installs car audio hook this up for me, and it only took the knowledgeable person about 20 minutes to do so. The unit itself is not TERRIBLY sturdy/durable looking, and is plastic, but really, what are you going to be doing with it that it needs to be more sturdy than that? The sound quality is great in the car - of course, this depends on your car's speaker system, but there is no hiss or feedback. With the instruction manual, it was easy to navigate using this thing, and get the hang of operation/programming. All in all, a great product for 200 channels of commercial-free radio. I reccommend it, and the birthday boy LOVED it.

It does what it says it does and it gets pretty good reception but it is a real hassle setting this thing up. I don't like having the external setup. I love XM as built in to my Audi. But this setup is less than ideal.

THis unit is a bit clunky. A lot of wires for the function. So here is my two cents of a review. First, the round button is somewhat easy do use if you like doing things backwards. The button advances options by being rotated like a dial. This is ok when you get the hang of the display. The main display is oriented like a semi-circle. The knob just doesn't flow right like you think it would to select options. Second, the user guide DOES NOT tell you that in order NOT to have static on the radio, you have to use both the secure connect and the antenna. When you look at the guide it say consult the secure connect manual... and there isn't one in the box. In order for the unit to work you have to plug in the antenna and then plug the secure connect cable into the fat mid section of the antenna cord. Basically create a "T" connection. Then clip the secure connect cable to your antenna outside of your car. The antenna can be attached anywhere outside your car (magnet). Select a station full of static first. Then sync the xm with that station using the options on the screen. NOTE; THE ICON IN THE BOOK IS DIFFERENT ON THE MAIN MENU FOR THE SYNC OPTION. PICK THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A CAR ON THE MIDDLE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEMI-CIRCLE (see above). Also when you call in to activate your unit, you must be in a clear area not obstructed by anything (trees, buildings, bridges...). I sat in an open parking lot to get my signal. It takes 15 minutes to have all the stuff download. If it does not work call back and an automated operator can send you the signal. ALSO, the box says that you will pay $9.99 if you register online and $14.99 if you register by phone. BUT, when you get online they try to tell you that it is a flat rate of $14. I called in to complain and they offered me $5 off and I was like nah I'll just send it back and they of course gave me the registration for $9.99. Hope this helps. It took me two days to figure out all this by myself but I love my unit and I love the option of having my own selections for radio and not this garbage we hear on the regular ratio. Not a bad buy. Watch the price, I got my unit for $30 so either try to search for the unit and see if there is another Amazon channel that offers this unit cheaper. WPHEW!!

This product cannot be used for anything other than a paperwieght... it is total junk... Not only can you NOT program the device, every computer that I attempted to conect the device to could not install the "software" provided via the audiovox web site.. 'windows cannot update the software for this "unknown device" because the driver already installed is newer that the driver you are trying to install" Good-by..... Tried to get it to work it at home, at work, at a "pro-car audio" shop and at circuit city.. does not work... Returend it bought the "XMCommanderMT through the AUX port... that worked just fine..

Purchased to use with my eclipse. Checked to be sure it would work before purchasing. Was told "Yes, just down load the software from our site." Well the true site you need is not listed in the instructions shipped with the item. Once I found the right place, I downloaded the program needed to download & install the "software you need for the Eclipse". I then installed it. Then I tried to dl the software for the eclipse. Now I get a message that IT (the software) is not available for the eclipse!!! I call and got "It will be but I have no itea when the software will be ready, sorry." Then I logged to the Audiovox CUST SERV site See my logged below.. Customer (Wade Wellard) 10/25/2007 01:50 PM When will the download I need be available. I need one to allow my Eclispe car stereo to work with a mini-tuner via your CNP2000UC. It is so very nice that your phone customer service people say,"I have no idea when it will be avaiable". Response (Trudy) 10/26/2007 03:40 PM Dear Wade, We are told that this should be available at the end of November. CNPECL1 Sincerely, Trudy, Customer Service Discussion Thread Customer (Wade Wellard) 10/26/2007 08:50 PM No POSITIVE result! I purchased your product to use with my eclipse. I can not. I need a the software for the CNP2000UC. I made no mention of a CNPECL1. Do you have a solution that I may take advantage of now to listen to XM rado?? I laid out the cash for your product under the notion that it would work, it does not. I also paid for my MX radio subscription. Audiovox sold me what amounted to unusable goods without informing me or your vendors. I hope Audiovox will do something for me before I have to search other avenues for a solution. Wade W. I paid $160 installation fee to find out that the unit does not work. Ive gleaned from internet search that the wiring harness might be improperly wired, but I've not been able to secure a diagram of the correct wiring so I'm returning the unit.

Okay - so I don't have a ford car, but just getting the XM direct unit for $20 was a bargain. I bought a spare antenna for my other unit and it was $20 by itself. I noticed the price went up, but even at 50-60 bucks its still cheap. My XMDirect is used in my car at work with a small fm modulator (it sits on the floor), in my personal car on long drives (under my seat), and on my computer at home. A simple cable connects the XMDirect to the PC, and using free software, you can legally record the songs to mp3's for your player. No more buying CD's or paying to download music, or worrying about downloading music illegally! The DIN cable that comes with the ford kit can be modified for the PC, and the audio cables are useful too. About the only thing useless is the ford adapter...unless of course, you have a ford.

Took a little research to make the XM work in my 2004 Mustang Mach 1 but it now works. I had to move the location of one of the wires in the harness. Apparently Terk had a batch that their vendor messed up but after calling terk I received no help because my car wasn't supported. I pointed out that the 2004 Mustang was their installation vehicle so there was no reason why it wouldn't work. Mine said NO SAT until I moved the wire. I have posted pictures on the Mach 1 registry if anybody needs to see what wire to move. It's nice having the controls in the stereo although it is somewhat quieter than normal radio so I have to turn up the volume a bit. All in all I'm satisfied but some help would have been appreciated.
