Let me start with what isn't so great. This "strategy" board game is similar to its predecessor - little strategy, little variability, some complexity. Players are restricted to space movement and to performing the instructions on the ring cards. The two 3D pieces of the game (Orthanc and Helm's Deep towers) are made out of a little more than card stock. And you have to construct and de-construct them each time you play. The box lacks in it's ability to provide adequet storage to leave them together, and there aren't any dividers to place the different pieces (character tokens, scoring gauges, cards, etc.). So, moving onward, there are aspects which I do enjoy. 1. The Helm's Deep tower is a neat concept. Putting the 6 main characters on the tower to battle the Uruks is very cool. There is also an aspect of randomness that goes into how many Uruks will be on the tower with the other players (one time I had 10, another only 3). 2. The most fascinating and coolest part of the game is the Orthanc Tower. Orthanc gets loaded up with a bunch of Uruk "discs" that get released and "rush" out of the tower when Haldir reaches a certain ring space. I still find this a very cool feature of the game.3. Combining this game with the first one definitely added to the enjoyment factor for me.4. The game board is made of multiple inter-locking "puzzle" pieces that make up the path for the characters, each piece with different movie scenes and images. As with the first game, this game is great if you don't want to sit and watch the Two Towers movie.

This game is so cool i don't know what everyone is complaining about. It is divided into three parts:The Fellowship of the RingThe Two Towers andThe Return of the KingAnd the only thing i don't like about it is the third part still has not come out. This game is great. I got the fellowship for a gift 2 years ago and it is perfect if you have nothing to do for like 2 hours. You just need a big table to play on (or the floor).

I have purchased this game for myself and my husband (in our sixties), and for four children ranging in age from 7 to 12 - everyone is enjoying it and it can be played for as long as you like or you can drop it without losing "your place" - good for seeing consequences of actions while playing.

I have played Mancala before here and there, such as in coffee shops or at friends houses, but its been years. This is a fun and classic game somewhat akin to backgammon perhaps? It is rather easy to learn and the carved wooden game board and glass gems are good quality (though a potential choking hazard for little ones). This game can be played relatively quickly, not something that drags on for hours, but is fun to play over and over, trying the different versions.

You would not think that a wooden board and some rocks would keep them entertained but it does. It does take a few times reading the directions over and over to get all the rules of this game. But my 5 and 7 yr old boys can play this game alone without any help. And is one of the few games they own that they play "by the rules". I recommend this game but make sure you spend the time to understand the rules.

This is a wonderful game for mixed ages to play. The level of concentration is very high which developes a keen eye for strategy and an excellent lesson in respect for other players. The combination of physical and mental stimulation is comparable with a good game of chess only a bit faster paced. The plotting of variable points makes it a good primer in map reading and navitation.
