We caught up with Monica, the amazing fashionista behind the wonderful Freesia Blog. Inspired through her love of fashion, Monica shares her passion with her readers through her posts about personal style, inspiration behind various outfits, other designers, and her very own personal illustrations. Along with her amazing photography skills, Monica’s natural flair for combining vintage and current trends makes for the perfect artistry. Read on to find more about Monica and her craft.

Where do you get your inspiration for fashion design?

Everywhere literally. I like to see what is going on around me. you will be surprised of the beauty of the world and how the smallest things give you big ideas. Thankfully I’m surrounded by very talented people in my everyday life. I have also found amazing people from around the world, so different and so inspiring.

Who is your most influential fashion designer?

Karl Lagerfeld. He is such an iconic designer and his vision in fashion is a dream, not only in the clothes, but the atmosphere he creates at his shows and on ads is fantastic! He has make Chanel even more legendary. It is a delight to see what he will be creating next.

Does your work reflect your personal fashion taste? Can you describe your style?

I like to make my blog look bright and fun (to look at). The designers I featured always have something inspiring to look at whether it be a piece of clothing or grand advertising. As far as my personal style goes, I play around with different looks and also love finding pieces that inspire me to create a look similar. I am never afraid to try things that are out of my comfort zone like animal print or maxi dresses. I make it my own- so my style is classic and comfortable. I’m just a girl playing dress up!

If you had the choice of any designer in the world to work with/for, who would you pick?

Tough question! Karl Lagerfeld is a must but I also think it would be a blast to work with Betsey Johnson. She follows her own trends and is not afraid of trying. I would also not mind the world of Diane Von Furstenberg which is the total opposite from Betsey world. But Diane has a very classic yet modern way of mixing prints, color, and fabrics. In sum, at this moment in time, these two women would be an honor to work.

What trends do you see being big for 2012?

Lots of interesting prints, floral and abstract designs, and geometric shapes. However, great style is never limited to these!
